When you round the corner and catch your first sight of Otautu Bay, you will think you have arrived in paradise. The sweeping bay is extremely sheltered, particularly at the western end where our house is one of a handful of residences and baches. The house is ideal for a short break to refresh from every day stresses, or a longer holiday to truly unwind. Set up with two living areas including a tv room and a combined living/dining area, the house is great when some want some peace and quiet, and others want to be part of the action. The main living/dining area and the main bedroom have stunning views of the bay. The TV room is cosy with plenty of seating and enjoys afternoon sun. The second bedroom is a great size with a ranch-slider onto a sunny little deck. The third bedroom contains 2 bunk beds (sleeps two) and is ideal for the kids. Are two picnic tables, once situated in the covered bbq area and one on the seaside of the property. There is also plenty of additional outdoor furniture.
Otautu Bay sits on the western side of the Coromandel Peninsula and has a sheltered boat ramp approximately 100m from the house. the bay is a fantastic safe swimming beach, and when the tide is out, perfect for ambling around the rocks of skim boarding! Whether your choice of activity is fishing, diving, swimming, walking or just relaxing, you will be able to get your fix in this environment. If you need a change of scenery, Otautu Bay is the gateway to one of New Zealand's truly magnificent coastal roads leading to Port Jackson. Not for the faint hearted but well worth the effort for amazing Pohutukawas and the dramatic drops down to the ocean. On the other side, Port Charles offers a different perspective to the Coromandel with a number of walking tracks around the Head, and rocky bays. Forgotten some goodies for the holiday, don't worry. The Colville Store is a collective that stocks an amazing amount of produce and supplies and does a fantastic dinner. Hereford and Pickle is a farm store that provides great meat and the most amazing burgers. And if you haven't caught enough seafood, Coromandel offers a number of options for brilliant seafood to bring back to put on the BBQ.
