This cosy A-frame bach is a perfect place for family and friends to enjoy their mountain break together. Privately owned on a quiet street that is also walking distance to both the main drag of Ohakune township and the bars offered by the junction - there are also two children's playgrounds, a skate park, mountain biking tracks and plenty of bush walks nearby. Just a 20 minute drive to the Turoa ski fields, or a 25 minute drive to Wanganui river for picnics and kayaking in the summer, and plenty to occupy you closer to home.
The comfortable living space is heated by a visor fire with wood provided - perfect for a chilly evening with mulled wine. There is also a deck and private garden area for summer BBQs. The bach has a stylish mid-century feel, with beautiful vintage finds complementing the fully equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The downstairs room sleeps two in single beds that could be pushed together to make a double, and upstairs is a double bed. (Please note this room is accessed by a ladder).
We have two young children, so you will find books and toys, including a train track, lego and pole tennis, that you are welcome to enjoy (but please do leave them behind). The oven has proven itself perfect for baking as well.
There is also a drying room for your wet gear, with a washing machine and clothes airer you are welcome to use. There is one off-street parking space out the front, and plenty of parking on the road.
In town you will find a New World supermarket, plus some fantastic bars, cafes and takeaways. We recommend Eat for paleo, vegan and gluten free lunches, cafe Utopia for morning coffee or afternoon tea, and Captain 'Kune's Fish n' Chips for an easy evening meal. There are two lovely play areas, plus a short river walk the kids will love. There is also a stream you can take a dip in during summer. On a rainy day why not visit the indoor skate park, or the local climbing wall? Or take a drive to Raethi to see the church.
Families and mixed groups preferred please.
Note the upstairs room is not suitable for very young children or people with mobility problems - our children sleep in the room downstairs.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels).
