About Laurette Macky
Your host, the property owner, Laurette Macky was born and raised in France. She worked in the hospitality industry for several years in London where she met her Kiwi husband. After almost 14 years in the legal profession in France and New Zealand, Laurette decided to return to hospitality when she and her family moved north to Matakana. After carefully relocating three cottages onto their ‘slice of paradise’, they have lovingly undertaken a refurbishment and decoration process. BeauRegard has a sentimental connotation for Laurette, since it was the name of the village where her late dad grew up in the Vendee region in the west of France. Beauregard is French for ‘beautiful to look at’
Laurette Macky purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Laurette Macky chose Matakana
BeauRegard features three self-contained cottages, tastefully decorated and set on 5 acres of recently landscaped land. Whether on holiday, for a special occasion or on business, you will enjoy an elegant, comfortable and well-appointed cottage. Only a short drive from Warkworth, Matakana Village and Omaha Beach, we are within easy reach of the great local attractions. The Matakana Coast district is a rural jewel known for its beautiful sandy beaches, scenic walks through the native bush, art galleries, picturesque vineyards, delightful restaurants and the famous farmer’s market. On the doorstep of Auckland, the Matakana region is however a world away from the big city lights. BeauRegard offers you the perfect base for exploring this magical region.

Ideal location for a short break. Nice surroundings and close to the village, all good.
Beautifully done cottage
Lovely getaway to Matakana. The host Laurette made checking in very easy and had designed the cottages beautifully. The shower was the only disappointing aspect with poor spray and pressure. Would stay again though.
Thank you Anna for staying at Beauregard cottages and thank you as well for the feedback. Feedback is very important to be at our best. Thanks for letting me know about the shower, we have changed the pump filter this week and the pressure of the shower is back to normal. Hope to see you again another time perhaps. Best regards
A lovely stay
We had such a great time here, the cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we needed. Laurette was great to communicate with and responded quickly, going out of her way to make sure I received everything I needed.
Perfect Location for weekend break at Matakana
A great escape away at BeauRegard Cottage Voltaire, warmly ready for our arrival. Perfectly located little cottage on vast lifestyle block near the main road. Furnished deck is sunset facing and we did enjoy this with wine and cheeseboard. Surprised there was no TV in our cottage, which would have been good to watch & unwind at the end of our busy days out and about. would have brought a tablet or device to watch movie if realised .There was lots to do over the weekend, even mid winter : wine trailing, Saturday Markets at Matakana, Sculptureum & Rothko , Matakana Cinemas, Sawmill Brewery, walk on beach at Omaha. Thanks Laurette.
Beautiful cottage, wonderful hosts and lovely surrounding areas
Had a wonderful time spending my 1 year expat anniversary here. Was a nice getaway from the city and a very quick and easy time to either Warkworth or Matakana!
Would without a doubt rebook!
Fantastic stay in this very tidy cottage, has everything thing you need and nestled amongst established trees and awesome landscape. Close to everything too. Would definitely recommend to anyone. A++
Matakana is a small village in the Rodney District of New Zealand. Warkworth lies about 9 km to the south-west, Snells Beach the same distance to the south, Omaha is about 7 km to the east, and Leigh about 13 km to the north-east. The surrounding area contains several vineyards. It is also known for its farmers' market, cinema, cafes, restaurants and boutique food-shops. The reasonable proximity to Auckland (around one hour's drive away) has led to the region becoming a trendy getaway spot for foodie people.
