Highly recommended. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily return.
Everything about this bach is lovely - location, view, comfort and amenities. Fresh flowers and a range of foods greeted us on our arrival and our first impressions were confirmed as our stay continued. One of the highlights was being greeted each morning by the local fantails.
Great guests, who left the cottage immaculate. Even washed the towels!! So appreciated thank you!
Highly recommend as future guests.
Quiet spot good for the soul.
From the moment you step onto the water view deck and into the charming bach, your breathing slows down and a calm settles in.
Brenda has thought of every little detail that someone could delight in or need. Welcome gifts and touches that show she is really honored that you chose her accommodations. Views from every room and beautiful deck framed by manuka and kanaka trees with the inter island ferries and sailboats gliding by. The living/kitchen area has everything a couple could need, including TV and WIFI. The bedroom has beautiful linens and a comfortable bed with a view, while the bathroom has perhaps the best shower of our travels. All is done up with an artist’s eye for color and detail. Just a beautiful, calming place to be...
Brenda’s thoughtfulness makes the property quite unique.
Nicer than in the photos
Great Bach, beautiful view and Brenda's breakfast was very generous. We could have stayed longer. Such a lovely spot.
Highly recommend as future guests. Left the cottage immaculate.
Great views from quiet location
Great property in a quiet location. Ideal place to have some quiet time in a comfortably furnished apartment.
Great guests. Left the cottage immaculate. Thanks so much for that!! Very happy to have them both stay. Highly recommend to future renters .
This is by far and away the most lovely rental property of our trip. It has everything you could wish for if you are looking for location, luxury and privacy. The view over the Sounds is magnificent yet the lovely town of Picton is within easy reach. It was super quiet at night. Brenda is extremely generous, providing all sorts of goodies including fresh fruit, milk , eggs and even a jar of fresh herbs. Flowers everywhere and fluffy dressing gowns. Fabulous.
Awesome guests very understanding during an unavoidable (8 hour) power cut! Very pleasant, left the cottage immaculate. Thanks so much. Highly recommend as future guests.
The Queen Charlotte walkway is a must do!!
Although it is generally considered a 4 day walk, it is possible to do part of it as a one day walk and the best 1 day walk for us is the SHIP COVE TO FURNEAUX LODGE.. This gives you the opportunity to view most of the Queen Charlotte Sound on your way out on the boat to the furthermost point of the sound, and although the 1st 30 minutes walk is uphill, the remaining walk is easy and pleasant. Ending up at Furneaux lodge for full lunch or just a coffee. Perfect!
VINEYARDS: As Marlborough is a renowned world wide wine area, a visit to the many vineyards and their restaurants is also a must do. Alan Scott, Rock Ferry, St Claire, Wither hills, Brancott Estate, Wairau River... these are some of our favorites.
Information/brochures are available at our cottage.
Ferries run to and from Wellington several times a day.
Movies are held at the aquarium in Picton. .... YES!
So a walk through the aquarium to find your seat in a cosy little theater to watch some of the latest movies is a great way to spend time if the weather is poor!
Other short walks, around the area of the cottage are explained in a booklet provided there. The beach 3 minutes walk down the track from the cottage provides solitude, privacy and peacefulness. A place to sit and contemplate or sleep or swim, depending on the seasons and weather. In a storm, a place to blow away the cobwebs and become invigorated!
Blenheim is another realm..Peter Jacksons Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre is worth a vist, but Blenheim is another story, and one that you can investigate further.! WELCOME TO OUR COTTAGE IN THE QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUNDS!
