tapu_beach_view purchased this House in 2017
Why tapu_beach_view chose Tapu
Five generations have lived in the Tapu Bach. The original owner,John Plummer, had a small farm that stretched over the south end of Tapu from the bush to the beach. The families came mostly for summer holidays. The current owner, Chris Cameron, bought the bach from the family in 2017 and has opened it up for visitors when she is away guiding overseas and in the South Island Chris's grandfather's family mostly used it for holidays but there was a time in the mid last century when the lived there to avoid polio epidemics in the more populated areas. While the family's time in Tapu has spanned many decades, the most striking observation is of the things that have not changed. The fossicking on the beach for shells and driftwood, splashing in the water, rowing and paddling to the point, climbing the big pohutukawa , putting out the net, collecting mussels, fishing off the beach, floundering at low tide, catching the wind in a sailboat, putting on plays with your siblings and cousins, walking to the shop for ice cream and lollies, cricket on the lawn. These are still the things that families do today and Chris and Kay (Chris's mum - still farming in Te Aroha) are looking to the future generations carrying on the happy traditions. Needless to sat, the bach has had many renovations over the years and most recently has been painted, new floors, new roof, new water system, new toilet new insulation, wood burning stove. It is very comfortable and offers clean, efficient living and relaxed living.

Love the old Bach feel, drive up and park on the grass. Great having access to the pantry, don’t need to bring your own salt, pepper and stuff like that.
