Check us out on FaceBk "Whananaki Sanctuary Beach and Whare" for a real good loo
Born and bred in New Zealand, we have both travelled, and agree this is the best country for enjoying life by the ocean and bringing up kids. We are fun loving, eco friendly, easy going and down to earth. Whananaki Sanctuary Beach and Whare is the place we love best. It has everything we love about the ocean, about nurturing our environment and keeping it natural. It has all the natural charm of growing up in New Zealand and holidaying at a traditional kiwi bach. It embodies our memories. And it gives us the opportunity to preserve this special part of New Zealand and share it with everyone who loves living and holidaying like this.
JanMareeV purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why JanMareeV chose Whananaki North
Why this property ... because it is on the beach, it has sand, it is private, it has a safe bay for water sports, it is warmer than the south, it is one of the best coast lines in the world according to National Geographic and we would have to agree (it is a great base for boating up the coast), it is opposite Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve with some of the best diving in the world according to Jacques Cousteau. And mainly? Because we feel happy by the sea.
What makes this Cabin unique
Great boat anchorage, very sheltered 4 water sports, diving or a trip to Poor Knights Marine Reserve. Sanctuary for Human and Animal alike. Relax in Nature.

Everything was just as the ad besides the beds and house itself but other then that everything is perfect thank you so much owners are so awesome as well neighbours are so friendly we will definitely be back this round prepared thank you
Listing really cannot do this place justice. Will definitely be coming back. Hosts were amazing too
Great getaway and location but make sure you come prepared
We loved the kayaking and the boat shed and the beach and water was incredible. Also the neighbors are super friendly.
Make sure you bring ALL sleeping items, especially blankets as they're not included. The main bach is (or was for us) pretty run down, really not what you'd expect for this price but I guess you pay for the location and the private beach.
Also bring repellant as there are lots of sandflies.
To the owner: I'd suggest to make clear in the listing that there is absolutely nothing included, e.g. bath items, sleeping items - you basically just get 4 walls and a few rugged old beds. Also, put pictures of hte main bach inside so people can see some of the things you might not expect, e.g. holes in the floor and side wall, the beds, the sofa, the outside showers in the back.
We'll definitely be back - this time prepared :)
Thanks Thomas. The whare is definitely a work in progress and is improving all the time. It is listed that guests have to bring all linen but it's not obvious on Book a Bach. I shall add it to the directions. I also have photos on the facebook and try to refer people to these. Getting better all the time. The location is what we are charging for. Thanks for the suggestions. I shall try to add some photos to the gallery. Have an awesome day.
Great rustic spot
A lovely spot, would love to bring friends with tents next time!
Thank you Marie and Steve. Love that you loved this beautiful part of our country and that you get to enjoy it too.
Best Escape for the weekend
Sun. Beach. Fishing. Roasted marshmallows. Fresh Kinas on toast. Nuff said. Will be back
Know what you mean. Thank you for staying :)
Unbelievable set up
Unbelievable set up. Right on the beach with great bonuses such as the kayaks and wakeboards
Thanks Alex. It's really great to know you had such a good time.
40 minutes to Whangarei where you can enjoy just about anything
