About Julie & Peter Olsen
We purchased this property about 12 years ago as a bare piece of land, first building the shed, which we lived in until the house was built by us approximately six years ago.
Julie & Peter Olsen purchased this Guest House in 2013

The cottage is lovely, clean as a hospital operating room, roomy, filled with modern appliances, the view was beautiful and the eggs were fresh and delicious. We found the location convenient from the airport, for a day trip into the city (Aukland) and for a day trip to the Coromandel Peninsula. We just wish that we had stayed longer.
The property is modern, spacious and very well presented and equipped.
The property is modern, spacious and very well presented and equipped. The rural location is pleasant and peaceful. It is easy to find and it is not too far to travel to find places of interest to visit. This is by far the best accommodation we have had in New Zealand.
Would highly recommend, what a great location its the best of both worlds rural and urban.

The Karaka Retreat is a marvellous place to stay.
The Karaka Retreat is a marvellous place to stay. In the countryside, yet easy access to Auckland. The accommodation is made up of high quality furnishing and finishing. It truly is a beautiful place to stay. Everything we needed. My wife, daughters and I enjoyed our stay so much that I'm pretty sure we'll be back for a longer stay. Thanks you Peter & Julie
As we are extremely close to the northern and southern motorways it is an easy commute to Matamata where Hobbiton Movie Set is located, Waitomo Caves, Tauranga , Coromandel Beaches. All great one day road trips.
If wanting farmers markets in the weekends, Pukekohe and Clevedon are only a 15 minute drive in the countryside.
