Great cottage and an interesting neighborhood
Loved the timber cottage and surrounding neighborhood.
Comfortable, clean and cozy - perfect for our stay in Wellington.
Aro St gem
This was our second stay at the Aro Arts Stay and we loved it just as much the second time as we did the first! It is such a comfortable cottage, and it really feels like home away from home! Also very conveniently located. We can’t wait until we’re able to,return again!
A truly amazing place for a stay in Wellington
I stayed here for three weeks during a business trip to Wellington. A truly special place in a very nice neighborhood, I immediately felt at home, and I could not have hoped for anything better. The host, Fiona, is also very nice, helpful, and attentive.
It was a pleasure to host you. Thank you for being a respectable and caring guest at our home.
As nice as the pictures are, the property is even nicer in person!
Wonderful location ... anywhere in central Wellington is pretty much walkable from here -- e.g. 5-10 minutes to Cuba Street and we got to Te Papa in about 25.
The place is indeed quiet but Aro is a vibrant little street, especially weekend evenings at Garage Project, the brew pub a few doors down (actual brewery is across the street). And if you get a chance to eat at Rita down the block you will not be disappointed.
Parking was never an issue -- there were spaces whenever we needed them in front or just across from property ... of course we were not coming back later in the evening when it might be more of an issue. Day parking passes are needed between 8 am and 6 pm. Passes (NZ$8.50) are bought in advance, as many as you need, from the markets just down the block (just scratch off the proper date to "validate" them). You do get 2 free hours parking so if you leave by 10 am and return after 4 pm I suppose you dont need a pass. But as mentioned above, we walked most days and left the car in Aro.
Just one note to US based travelers -- like many places, NZ just never took to the good old window screen, so if mosquitoes find you appetizing, you should sleep with the bedroom windows closed!
Fiona and Steve have provided a wonderful cottage for the VRBO community to take advantage of. Thanks!
Thanks for your detailed review Maria we are so glad you enjoyed your stay in our cottage and in our wonderful little city.
Peaceful and beautiful sanctuary close to town
A delight to stay in Aro Arts Stay. From the moment we walked through the courtyard garden to enter a beautifully restored home we felt secluded, safe and secure. Everything we needed was at the doorstep, including the bus, a craft brewery and great coffee. An easy walk into town made Aro Arts Stay the perfect base for our four nights in Wellington. The owner’s quick reply to any enquiries we had made our stay all the more comfortable. Thank you.
We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay in our CBD sanctuary. It was a pleasure to host you.
Feels just like home
Beautifully restored little wooden villa in a fantastic urban setting, peaceful and quiet, decorated with lots of love and taste.
So glad you enjoyed your stay at our urban sanctuary.
