About the host
Hosted by Sam

We are Sam and Ane and this is our second year of adventures on our homestead. Ane is from Denmark and moved to Canada after meeting Sam, who was born and raised in eastern Ontario. We are both working as vegetable farmers on small local farms and spend our free time building up our homestead, exploring and learning with the land, crafting, playing music and spending time with our three dogs. We love to welcome guests and friends from all different walks of life to learn from each other and build new friendships.
Why they chose this property
Addington Highlands are known for the beautiful landscape. There are endless hiking trails to explore and lakes to paddle. We are happy to share some of our favourite trail recommendations with you, just let us know!
Bon Echo Provincial Park is 25 minutes drive away and offers beautiful views, the famous Mazinaw Rock featuring the Indigenous pictographs and plenty of opportunity to hit the water, either by canoe, kayak, swimming or paddle board.
Lower Madawaska river is also just up the road and is a fantastic place to paddle the rapids or hike in the park.
If you are interested in ATV or Snowmobile trails, we are less than 5 minutes away from the E101 OFSC trail, that connects to a huge network of exploring.
There are also many lovely small shops and restaurants in Bancroft, Renfrew, Calabogie and Eganville to explore.

What makes this property unique
The Bunkie is surrounded by acres of forest where you could wander for hours without meeting anyone except the occasional deer or woodpecker. There are 2km of trails on the property that you are welcome to explore. However, we do ask that all visitors try to stay on the trails to avoid unnecessarily disturbing the forest.
The quiet and peace of the forest creates the perfect environment for a relaxing stay and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. During the summer, we are also lucky to bear witness to the lively happenings in the beaver pond. We are grateful to be able to share the space with the frogs, birds, turtles and many other creatures that call it home.
