About this property

Modern Farmhouse Red Barn w/ 1 bedroom and a Scenic Forest and Country Setting

Welcome to a secluded 100-acre countryside property in Southwestern Ontario—anchored by a vibrant red barn that blends rustic exterior charm with a modern farmhouse interior. Surrounded by trails, forest, ravines, pasture, and rolling open fields, this property offers an expansive range of natural and architectural visuals in one private location.

The red barn is the visual and functional centerpiece of the property. Recently converted into a modern farmhouse-style living space, it features warm wood accents, updated finishes, and curated design touches throughout. Large windows bring in natural light while maintaining a cozy, grounded atmosphere. Inside, there are comfortable sitting areas, a full kitchen, a bathroom, and loft-style upstairs with an office desk. The modern-farmhouse style building has cozy bedroom with a comfortable king size bed and a living area with queen size pull-out couch with tempur-pedic mattress. Outside, a wraparound patio, equipped with a dining set and BBQ, and a yard. The red exterior pops in every season—framed by deep green forest in summer, golden foliage in fall, and snow-covered quiet in winter.

The barn is surrounded by 62 acres of Carolinian forest, intersected by more than 5 km of trails that wind through varying terrain. The forest includes large ravines that carve through the landscape, creating lookout points with dramatic elevation changes. Several open clearings break the canopy, including a peaceful picnic area that’s accessible but feels secluded. During fall, spring, and winter, the absence of foliage opens the forest to rich picturesque sunset views from the wrap around deck. The expansive open space offers incredible views of the night sky, where stars shine vividly and full moons illuminate the entire landscape.

Surrounded by peaceful forest and open space, the property offers access to scenic nature walks and unique wildlife viewing. From rare plants and spring warblers to migrating tundra swans, each season brings its own natural beauty right to your doorstep. A creek winds through the property's forest, adding a natural water feature.

Situated 300 metres up the lane is our horse barn, horse paddock, and our home. Around our horse paddock and home is a wide hay field, offering a large open area that transitions into the Carolinian forest.

We also have a friendly German Shephard dog named Josie who lives on the property.

Winter transforms the entire property into a serene snowscape, with trails, trees, rooftops, and fields covered in a fresh, quiet layer of snow. Spring brings wildflowers and fresh greens, while summer offers deep shadows and sun-dappled clearings, and fall surrounds the property in a blanket of golden light and colorful fall canopies and flowers.

The property includes parking for multiple vehicles with year-round access, and a quiet setting with no through roads, neighbors, or traffic interruptions. Power and modern amenities are available inside the red barn.

Guests have access to a private fire pit near the barn, perfect for evening campfires. Firewood is provided, and we encourage guests to enjoy the space responsibly while taking in the peaceful surroundings.

The property is home to, and visited by, lots of wildlife with deer and birds commonly seen.

We are 10 minutes away from Port Bruce Beach and 20 minutes away from both Port Stanley and Port Burwell Beaches. We are about 45 minutes away from Long Point Provincial Park and Beach as well. Local attractions, such as a lavender farm, the quaint village of Sparta, wineries, conservations areas with trails, farmers markets and eateries can all be found within 6km of our property. Note, that some businesses do have seasonal hours.

There is plenty of stands and stores within 10km of us for groceries and some essentials. We are also 10 minutes away from the Town of Aylmer and 15 minutes away from the City of St. Thomas.

This property is more than a red barn—it's a dynamic rural location with forest, wildlife nature, field, clear night skies all in one place. We offer guests access to trails, firepit, and the whole building and surrounding area listed.

We love the outdoors, needless to say. While the property keeps us busy, we also enjoy travelling when we can.

Why they chose this property

We both work in the environmental field, and Jenny cares for two horses. While we always envisioned a rural lifestyle, we never imagined we'd be fortunate enough to call this 100-acre haven our own. Work initially brought us to the area, but it was the natural beauty, peaceful surroundings, and character of the property that made us fall in love with Calton Line. We’re grateful to share it with guests who appreciate the quiet, the wildlife, and the charm of the countryside as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

Surrounded by peaceful forest and open space, the property offers access to scenic nature walks and unique wildlife viewing. From plants like forest trilliums and ferns to wildlife such as spring warblers and migrating tundra swans; each season brings its own natural beauty right to your doorstep. The surrounding area offers plenty to explore beyond the property itself. From Catfish Creek to nearby conservation areas, guests can enjoy days of adventure within just 6 km. Local markets, lavender farms, wineries, and charming villages are all within biking distance—making this the perfect base for nature lovers and relaxed explorers alike. Three stunning beaches and beach towns are in very reasonable driving distance as well, making it easy for an afternoon trip, or even a night out for dinner.
