About this property

The Greenhouse - Historic Farmhouse at Jordan Lake

The Greenhouse was built in 1910 and has been restored to provide a tranquil retreat - close to all the conveniences of Chapel Hill, Durham and Pittsboro. Proximity to Jordan Lake makes this a favorite getaway for boating, fishing and other water related activities at the Lake.
The main house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a spacious living room, dining area and separate kitchen. The kitchen opens to a hallway that leads out onto a spacious deck that is perfect for meals al fresco - or just relaxing in the hammock, cooking outside or enjoying the firepit on cooler nights.
In addition to the main house the upper area includes a living area with desk and twin beds and futon in third bedroom and a fourth bedroom with queen bed and sitting area with TV (both areas or just one can be rented on arrangement based on season).

There is a screen porch off Bedroom 1 downstairs, which also provided step free access to the home if needed. Once inside the house there are no more steps inside - other than the stairway to upper level.

The house is surrounded by horse fields and barns as well as a pond. Guests are able to access these areas - at your own risk - but there are horses and dogs contained by an invisible fence so all gates should be left locked as one of the horses is a bit of a Houdini!

There are many things to do around the area, walking, cycling and going to Jordan Lake - access to beach at Jordan Lake is at the end of Marthas Chapel Rd and Farrington Point with boat launching for hand carried as well as power craft is just a short drive across the bridge on Jordan Lake. We have many return guests that enjoy the convenience of parking their boats and trailers at the property and spending days on the lakes in the area - fishing or boating.

The original farmhouse kitchen has been updated with modern appliances and there is a laundry area off the kitchen for convenience. We stock basic condiments at the house and it is well fitted for meals at home - and guests in the past have even made family meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthday celebrations!
