About this property
Tiny Vinatarta
The Tiny Vinatarta is an overnight getaway for tiny home and sustainable living enthusiasts. The home itself was built by Fritz Tiny Homes and featured in Dwell Magazine’s March 2021 international edition. Its airy Scandinavian modern design, nine large windows, and spa-like bathroom make it the perfect place to experience abundance and simplicity at once. Named for an Icelandic wedding cake, Tiny Vinatarta models a commitment to loving relationships and a forever planet. 🌎🏡
The space
Guests can enjoy 268 ft.² of impeccably designed tiny home, a private deck, a shared fire-pit and garden. Your host uses “lasagna garden beds”—no-till with layers of cardboard, leaves, grass clippings, and compost which make for rich instant soil!
Guest access
Guests have full and private access to the tiny home and it’s deck. Additionally, you are welcome to share the garden and fire pit with me and my family. When weather is good, we love to sing and play music around the fire. And we have extra instruments if you are someone who likes that too!
In a separate area of the yard, behind an up-cycled pallet board picket fence, you will see Whimsy and Hazel, our doodles, and Lilly, our geriatric shepherd. They are friendly.
Other things to note
This tiny home is a laboratory for sustainable low footprint living.
The biggest adjustment for most can be the COMPOSTING WATERLESS TOILET. Solid and liquid waste are separated and both are eventually used as nutrients for soil. While the toilet is easy to use, we find that things run more smoothly for both guests and our cleaning staff if you watch the following video: https://youtu.be/duoT34h5dzI.
We keep a blue cup beside the toilet. Please pour a glass of water down the urine trap after voiding. It keeps the toilet bowl and drain clear.
You will find that the small space will amplify your ability to see your footprint. An order of takeout food, for example, can yield more trash than the entire space under the sink. This has really motivated guests to use resources wisely and avoid “waste” all together.
Please leave dishes and small appliances clean.
🙏The oak countertops are still porous. Please keep them dry. Thank you.
🥾 Leave shoes at the door.
🚘 We have room for ONE vehicle on the street just east of our driveway. Additional vehicles can be parked in front of the school across the street.
♻️ Recycle and reuse whatever you can using the organizers in the tiny home. There is a BLUE BOX in the lock box at the front door of the tiny. Cash recycling goes in an organizer by the purple gate. Organics have a bin under the sink.
See house manual for more details.
🌎💧🛁 All cleaning and hygiene products that will enter the gray water system (dish water, bath and wash water, and laundry) must be biodegradable and safe to water garden soil. I will provide soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and laundry detergent.
🚽 For compost toilet function, everyone must sit to pee. See https://youtu.be/QhVm470AOt0 for details.
🚭 There is no smoking—cannabis or otherwise—on the property.
🔥 In order to use electric heat wisely, in general, windows must be closed when the outside temperature is below 15 degrees C. See the House Manual for more.
