About this property

Lakehouse Cozy Suite & Charming Vintage Camper at Little Cypress Guest Suites

Thanks for your interest in our rentals. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A PRIVATE WHOLE HOUSE RENTAL. Your booking includes two sleeping spaces, a fully renovated vintage camper and a suite with private entrance (in the host's home with no shared common spaces, but shared closed/locked doors and walls with host's living area). Miss Ruby, the camper is quite private, but the suite is not entirely sound proof. Each space has a queen sized bed and it's own unique private bath. Reservations include use of lakeside amenities, including kayaks, grill, hammock, lounge chairs & fire pit. The lakeside property is shared with the owner.

Miss Ruby is our beloved 1965 Yellowstone Vintage Camper, 13' of private, cozy & clean. She is fully renovated with whisper quiet climate control, refrigerator, sink and tv, with the love of a decorator's touch. The coil comfort queen sized mattress is completed with a Tempurpedic topper, 100% cotton sheets and quality bed linens. Miss Ruby's unique private bathhouse is outdoors, just around the corner of the main house, with a hot shower under the trees, sink and toilet.

Inside the main house through guests' private entrance you will find the second accommodations and bathroom, a comfortable and clean private bedroom with an organic queen mattress, cotton linens and sitting room with television, refrigerator, tv, microwave and coffee maker. The suite's private bathroom boasts a spacious walk-in shower and self-care amenities.

Private access to the guest suite's bedroom (14' x 10'), adjacent sitting room (11' x 7') & bathroom. The vintage camper (Miss Ruby) is a cozy 13' and includes it's own private outdoor bathhouse, just steps away. The two spaces have their own outdoor patios within 20 feet of one another. You also have shared use of the lakeside deck, kayaks & grounds. Enjoy the beauty of natural Florida under the cool shade of the Cypress Trees with the convenience of easy access to downtown Tampa, the Tampa International Airport, Ybor City, Amalie Arena, Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, USF, University of Tampa, Lowry Park Zoo, The Florida Aquarium, the Straz Center, Carrolwood, Tarpon Springs & Gulf Beaches.

Beautiful lakeside location for 2 northern guests
We rented both properties , not realizing they were 2 separate listings, but it worked out well for giving us more space. Each property is compact, with amenities such as shower soaps, thick bath and beach towels, coffeemaker and coffee, paper goods. Comfortable beds, AC, fans, and heating unit. TV units in both rentals. Being on the lake is the prize feature. Host generously supplied us with single kayaks for an enjoyable 2hrs touring the lake and photographing fowl. Cooked breakfast in the camper (more equipped for cooking with cooking utensils, pans), ate at the lake deck (set up with canopy, table, deck chairs, propane grill, napping hammock). The outdoor shower (w/camper rental) is a treat, totally private and outfitted with soaps, fan, decorative lighting. Shower with suite rental is nicely oversized, also with soaps and lovely art. Cooking and washing up dishes in the suite is a little tricky as you're limited to a microwave and toaster and a few dishes. Small plastic basin to wash up dishes in the bathroom. Lots of wastebaskets with bags placed throughout suite. Grounds of the rentals and host's home are beautifully maintained - woods, plants, lake. Parking on the property is ample and easy. Neighborhood is attractive residential, short drive to local stores and restaurants. It was nice to go out to the beach and local sights and return to the cool, quiet rentals.

Great Getaway!
To start, we were a little late to the game in working on our spring break plans. The houses we were looking at seemed to be disappearing by the minute. I started searching for a lake in addition to oceanside. I hadn't though of lakes in Florida, but being from Michigan, it was familiar. I stumbled upon this property and was amazed at how much it looked like home. I mean we have a lot of inland lakes in Michigan. WIth everything going on, I also thought it might be a good thing to stay away from the crowds as well. I was not disappointed! Talk about quiet! Nothing to hear but the fish jumping, birds talking to each other and frogs discussing worldly topics. (OK, maybe they were just ribitting) We made use of the firepit about every night and especially later in the week when it cooled down. Ms. Ruby, the camper, was a hit with my teenagers and they were able to swap nights all week. Our accommodations were sufficient and the bed was very comfortable. Ms. Judi was a great host and we really appreciated the hospitality. My only regret is that we didn't stick around more instead of seeing the sights. I wouldn't trade any of it, though, as it was a trip that I'll never forget.

Hello and thanks for checking out our little slice of paradise! Nothing pleases me more than to share it with others. When life gives you lemons...well, you know...you pull up your boot straps and make some amazing lemonade. Oh so sweet with a little zip, I enjoy the art of living well creatively with great food, friendships & a healthy lifestyle close to nature. While my kids are off into the world creating their own amazing life adventures, you’ll find me tending our homestead, baking in the kitchen, singing & playing music, practicing yoga or planning my own next adventure.

I have a few good stories to share - ask about my month in Thailand sailing to remote islands in the Andaman Sea, singing on stage with Andrea Bocelli or
studying Tibetan language & culture with the Dalai Lama’s translator. Life is grand!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for supporting small women owned business.

Why they chose this property

Years ago, and seemingly a lifetime has passed since I first stepped foot onto this Old Florida homestead with its cypress trees, sleepy spanish moss and a breeze that blew the scent of lake through this cypress and heart wood pine saltbox style home. As a college student I rented the house, designed and built by it’s owners in 1956 while they were wintering in Honduras; little did I know I would return as a full time caregiver and marry into the family. If these walls could talk….babies were born, gardens have come and gone, there were birthdays and celebrations of life, marriages & anniversaries, house concerts, meditation retreats, kid's school and scout parties and more dinner gatherings than I can count. Nearly 30 years later, with lots of sweat equity, the passage of loved ones and a few tears, I continue to call this place home and now share it with others, with joy and gratitude as Little Cypress Guest Suites.

What makes this property unique

The property offers accessibility to all that Tampa has to offer, yet the quiet and peaceful respite of Saddleback Lake.
