The Lake House - Private, Peaceful, Perfect!

Secluded, private home on private lake - great outdoor living! The Lake House is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy nature. The entry level houses the living room with large flat screen TV (programing is via streaming - use your own account to stream). The living area is "open plan" - off the living room is a dining area with a table that seats 8. The kitchen has loads of countertop space and includes a 'kiddie breakfast bar". Coffee maker is drip.
The large deck is off the living area and overlooks the lake. The deck has a gas grill as well as outdoor tables, chairs and a hammock. The walk to the lake is not arduous and will take about a minute and a half (126 walking strides - no steps, just a path to follow). There is a kayak and two paddle vessels.
There are 2 bedrooms on the entry level - a King and a Queen bed and each bedroom has an attached bathroom.
Behind the living area is another area that houses a small child's day bed.
The upper level houses a bedroom with 2 twin beds as well as a cot - there is a "bathroom" on this level that comprises a toilet and sink only. The living area around the upstairs bedroom has a lot of space for children to play and there is an additional cot.
The Lake House is 4.2 miles from Rosman and 13 miles from Brevard, 12 miles from Lake Toxaway, 25 miles from Cashiers and 38 miles from Asheville.

Quick Trip

The house has a great location. It is very private on a small lake. The house itself is quite dated. While it was clean, it is very well lived in. We had a few small bumps with the property, and the property manager responded very promptly. We would not rent again.

Mouse Infestation

We had to leave the first night. The house was infested with mice with feces everywhere and multiple rotten mice on the floor. We checked in after a lengthy drive on a gravel road and immediately when we opened the door, the house had the smell of dead animals. Upon inspection, we found multiple rotting mice around the living areas. The cabinets, dishes, towels, floor and beds were littered with mouse feces. At night, you could hear the mice running around non-stop. We had to leave right away. It was very very very unpleasant. This was not a single mouse or two and not just some random feces in a corner somewhere. It was everywhere and sent several photos to VRBO.

Not as described

We had a great trip but the stay at this place was not as expected. Flooring is unfinished, stains on carpet, holes in walls, electrical outlet was hanging by wires, the door to attic was held up by a chair and is open so a small child could crawl in, and there was a spider infestation, along with mice. Never staying at this one again.

Good family lake getaway

If you are looking to get away from it all and spend quality time with the family at the lake, this is your place. Not a place for heavy electronic device use as the Internet is DSL and basic at best. The house is oddly laid out, but it has that nostalgic family vacation feel to it. Plenty of room and Lake access from a nice sized dock on a small, beautiful lake. The property management team is excellent. Anytime we had a question or concern, it was addressed immediately.
