Blue Ridge Parkway Seclusion


Welcome to Rustic Ridge Retreat. A long time VRBO destination, this charming cozy cabin offers tremendous views of the Piedmont stretching across multiple counties of northern North Carolina, and the southwestern edge of Virginia. A very private and secluded setting with all the amenities of home. Enjoy the rocking chair front porch while taking in the view or watching for wildlife including deer, red-tailed hawks, wild turkey, groundhogs, and, in the summer evenings, fireflies.

Location is key…. just off the Blue Ridge Parkway (approx 1.3 miles), you can explore historic buildings/sites, stop and take in breathtaking views, and experience the beautiful seasons the parkway has to offer. In addition to the parkway, the area offers something for everyone to enjoy…music festivals (Mt Airy, Galax, Floyd), wineries, photography opportunities, golf courses, antiques galore, hiking, biking, and so much more.

The cabin includes two large bedrooms - one downstairs (primary with king bed) and one upstairs (queen and twin). The loft includes additional sleeping accommodations (queen/ twin), if needed. A fully equipped kitchen, living room, and two and one-half bath complete the cabin. Outside you’ll find a the front porch with fabulous views, back porch with grill, and a fire pit to enjoy on chilly nights.

The cabin is equipped with a whole house generator to ensure power stays on during stormy weather.

We welcome your four-legged family members (dogs only). The purchase of an insurance policy is required during booking. Insurance policies protect both the renter and the property owner for damage. Life happens, so these policies are just that…insurance for the unexpected and unintended.

Cancellations: Your reservation is fully refunded (minus the VRBO guest service fee) if you cancel at least 14 days prior to your arrival date, or 50% refundable if cancelled 7 days prior to your arrival date. No refunds are allowed for cancellations shorter than 7 days. Insurance policies purchased are fully refunded by the insurance company upon any cancellation prior to arrival of your reservation. VRBO’s ‘Guest service fee’ is not refundable.

The stag with a Mountain View

We stayed for a family reunion in the area. The home was beautiful, well kept, and had everything we need to make a great stay. The host was fabulous, checked in to make sure we were able to get in the home okay and to see how the stay was going. I would highly suggest this property to anyone with 4wheel drive vehicles!

Outstanding views from this sweet cabin. The cabin was tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. The property was as advertised with everything we could have needed. The front porch was our favorite! We enjoyed coffee out there in the mornings, reading and just sitting in the afternoon & evening. We could see fireworks in the distance on 4th of July. The owner was quick to answer when I had a question. We enjoyed this long weekend get away so much! Would definitely rent this property again.

Gorgeous place, lovely cabin

My husband and I were looking forward to connecting with nature and enjoying a short getaway with our 6mo puppy. We loved everything about this place: the location, the cabin itself and how well-equipped it was, the trails and parks nearby and the gorgeous and peaceful view. It was the perfect reset. I 100% recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature and a slower pace. Instructions left by owner were crystal clear and very effective, she was also super welcoming and responsive to messaging. We were sad to leave and hope to come back in the future.

Cindy’s cabin was beautiful, comfortable, and accommodating. It was secluded but a relatively short drive to restaurants and groceries (however, you will probably want to avoid bringing a low clearance vehicle, as the road leading to the house is steep, unpaved, and somewhat uneven). We had a couple issues during our stay — the keypad at the back door only worked intermittently upon arriving, and we had no hot water for the duration of our two-night stay. However, Cindy was responsive to both issues and refunded our stay in exchange for the lack of hot water, as it could not be fixed until after our departure. I am giving 5 stars because I understand both are fixable issues that should not affect future stays, and Cindy remedied each one to the best of her ability without us having to ask. I would stay at Cindy’s cabin again because it has the perfect vibe for a cozy mountain getaway with a view!

Gorgeous View

The view from the cabin is gorgeous. We could see all the way to Pilot Mountain. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. It was apparent that thought went into all the amenities provided. Hopefully we will be able to stay again soon.

Peaceful and Secluded Getaway

The property was awesome and just as advertised, which is unusual these days. It accommodated the 4 individuals staying extremely comfortable. Entire property was Very clean and contained all the required essentials and then some. Great views from the balcony of the nearby mountains and countryside. Very relaxing to seat in the balcony with a cup of coffee or favorite beverage and decompress from the stress of life. The owner was extremely helpful and very easy to communicate with. Stayed in touch to make sure our needs were being met. Also, responded very quickly to my text messages. Detailed directions to the property were provided. Only request is that a few more rockers with comfortable cushions be provided for the balcony. Would highly recommend this property.

Anniversary- 44 years

Beautiful place and great scenery in the mountains. If you love peace and quiet , this is the place for you. Get some groceries before your trip up. You’re about 20 minutes from grocery store. Remember, 12miles may take you 20 minutes, a little curvy but we didn’t have any problems with 2 wheel drive. Would definitely recommend the place

We really loved this property. Three bedrooms and 2.5 baths made it easy to have six adults and our doggie. The home is well appointed and the back porch offers great views.

Lovely spring break

The house is immaculately clean and very well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, and some grilling too. Everything was just right for relaxing and enjoying nature.

We visited Fancy Gap (Cana) on our 25th wedding anniversary and fell in love with the location. Five months later we became the owner of this cozy cabin and long time Vrbo destination. We love to travel, especially mountain settings, and you'll find some of our other favorite locations in photos on the walls of our cabin.

Our property won us over when we stepped out on the front patio. We fell in love with the view where we can sit for hours and watch the sunrises, sunsets, wildlife, and awesome storms and lightning shows.
