Clean & modern with friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful balcony & view
Pool was amazing. Hours limited. We would have preferred to swim earlier than 9 and often wished we could go for an evening swim. The two futons in the condo are not very comfortable despite being repaired early in our 53 day stay. The door lock was broken and after several unsuccessful attempts to repair, we heard no more and just continued to use the back up plan. The kitchen was well supplied, the clothes washer was excellent. The drying rack had several broken rods but was good enough for us. Overall, we felt safe and secure in the condo and building and despite us speaking no Spanish, we usually had quick responses to our communications. Everything was great until my husband was beaten up and robbed one sunny morning while walking along the beautiful, wide sidewalk along Playa Azul in Cielo Mar. Two young men with a knife ruined our trip and our feelings for Cielo Mar and Cartagena. It is true that muggings can happen anywhere in the world and in many 3rd world countries the police are not helpful. We thought Cartagena would be better but the police refused to do anything because they were “going off shift.” No report was completed. Police told us to take a taxi to the Prosecutor’s Office in a neighborhood we had not heard of and file a report with that office. Bruised and traumatized, no way were we going there. This is why statistics/gov’t information shows low crime in the tourist areas of Cartagena.
