Arrived to find there was no reservation

We travelled from DC to Park City and when we arrived at the resort they did not have our reservation. We had a VRBO confirmation number but they do not use those. The owner called back after several hours of waiting to tell us they makes a mistake and forgot to book our room. They could not find any other places for us to stay so they returned our money. Our vacation was ruined as we had to rent a car, book a room far from the ski lifts (the booking was ski in and ski out which we were really looking forward to). Travel time and lesser accommodations diminished the quality of our trip and we had to waste precious time every day to go to and from the ski resort. To make things even worse, since our new reservation was last minute, the cost of our trip was much more than originally planned. This was a nightmare!
