About this property

Trail Magic | Pet-friendly, Deck, Fire Pit & Year-round Mountain Views!

On the main level, step into a spacious living room with a 75" TV, before your eyes are drawn to the fully enclosed sunroom with long-range mountain views, including views of towering Mt. Mitchell. Also on the main level are two traditional bedrooms, both with queen size beds, a full bathroom, powder room, and laundry room. Additional sleeping space is provided with a twin-size bed located just off the family room. A well-equipped kitchen, complete with a water and food station for the furry traveler in your group, creates a home-sweet-cabin feel. The upper level is home to an open-air loft with casual seating and a primary bedroom with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom. The large windows with picturesque views along with the vaulted ceilings in the living room allow an abundance of sunlight to filter into the loft. Outside, the expansive deck provides multiple options for seating, including rocking chairs, bistro seating for two, and additional seating in the yard for a true front-seat view of the mountainsides beyond. Use the charcoal grill to whip up delicious summer favorites to enjoy together at the outdoor dining table over a glass of wine and great conversation. The newly added firepit, built with relaxation in mind, offers even more unapparelled views and is sure to inspire kids and adults alike to roast the perfect marshmallow. Offering unparalleled tranquility and solitude, this immaculate log cabin nestled on 8+ acres within the private Gateway Mountain Nature Preserve, is also under a 30-minute drive to the shops, restaurants, and breweries in the charming small towns of Old Fort and Black Mountain! Please Note: This home is pet-friendly with an additional fee. AWD or 4WD is required year-round. During the colder winter months, from December through March, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development. We also highly recommend travel insurance. Parking up to 2 well-spaced vehicles allows for optimal turning and maneuvering, although the parking area can accommodate up to 3 vehicles. Overflow parking can be found along the lower driveway. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community, and no parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances.

Gorgeous Views- 4 WD a must
The house was very clean and plenty of comfortable spaces for us all to hang out. We did notice a few roaches in the kitchen which we reported to the management office. They gave us spray to remedy this into they could get exterminator out. The views were absolutely amazing! The driveway is not for the faint of heart. Definitely need 4 wheel drive. Over all we were very pleased with our stay.

Stunning Views!
We had a wonderful visit! The house was clean and comfortable. We loved sitting in the sunroom watching the sunrise and set each evening. We went on several local hikes, but the views from the house were by far the best! We also loved Old Fort and went to Hillman's for dinner almost every night!

Greybeard Rentals manages vacation rentals and vacation cabins in Asheville, Black Mountain, Montreat, Old Fort and surrounding areas. Located 10-15 minutes from downtown Asheville, Black Mountain is a quaint town with many great shopping options, delicious restaurants, breweries and access to hiking trails and wilderness areas. TripAdvisor named Black Mountain one of America's Prettiest Towns in 2017. Asheville is home to award-winning restaurants, stunning mountain views with access to areas like the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Biltmore Estate, and a variety of local art and culture. Oh, and did we mention Asheville has had the record for having more breweries per capita than any other U.S. city? We held the title for Beer City USA in 2009. Hiking trails are also located throughout western North Carolina.
