About this property
Historic Keddie Retreat on Spanish Creek
A Family paradise at 3225 feet elevation nestled in the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains! Located just seven miles from the Plumas county seat of Quincy, California. Here is where you will find this lovely home on the banks of Spanish Creek. Situated just below the historic old resort, mining community, and railroad town of Keddie. Positioned within viewing distance from our home is one of the seven wonders of the Western Pacific Railroad, the famous Wye bridge trestle. The “Wye” and town were named for Arthur Keddie. Keddie was an engineer who pioneered and surveyed the route for the railroad through the Feather River back in 1909.
Fast forward to the 1960s when Keddie was being transformed into a resort by realtor Clarence Arthur English Jr. who had purchased the town in ’57 with the goal of making it into a first class resort destination. One of the features that Mr. English developed was the “Swimmin Hole’ which were a series of stone stairs leading down to patios and built in stone barbecue pits on the banks of Spanish Creek.
More than 50 years later the beautiful rock work and patios still exist and in fact have been reborn for today’s generation of families. This wonderful setting with its modest home is available now to be enjoyed by young and old alike.
The home is a fully equipped, modern, and cheerful. It has three private sleeping areas. The master bedroom has a large closet, a California King bed, and it's own private bath. The large master bath includes a beautiful claw foot tub for relaxing, a separate private room with a large modern stand-up shower. Another sleeping room offers a Queen Bed with antique dressers. This room also has its own door into a full bath. The front of the house has another sleeping room that has a Double Bed. Off this room is the laundry with a washer and dryer and storage area. A Queen size Aero Bed is also available.
The home has a fully stocked modern kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, cook top, double ovens and a dishwasher. The counter area also has three high backed stools to accommodate seating at the kitchen counter.
Off the kitchen is a sitting area for relaxing and enjoying the pictures and history of Keddie Resort in its heyday of the 1960s.
The dinning area has seating for six, while the living area has a large sofa just right for viewing the hi-definition large screen television that is artfully hidden when not in use in the large decorative wall cabinet and book case.
Out the French doors by the kitchen and sitting area is a covered porch that spans the entire length of the house. Seating is not a problem in the numerous chairs, the outside bar, and bar stools that adorn the porch.

About the host
Hosted by Ember English

I have been English Oaks manager for the past 15 years and now Chris and I will be taking ownership of this beautiful property. I am a Real Estate agent and Chris is a Remodeling Contractor. We both grew up in Quincy so we know all the cool places to visit in Plumas County. Chris's dad used to own Keddie Resort and we are so happy to be continuing the tradition that was started so many years ago.
Why they chose this property
We are located at the end of a dead end road right on the river. Occasional guests are directly across the river and we live next door on the property. We also have two very friendly Golden Retrievers who love to come and visit.
What makes this property unique
Riverfront property with private swimming hole, rock firepits on a private dead end road.
