Disliked: Communication
Pleasant property for a long weekend, with a few communication hiccups
Pros:
• Good general location
• Nice common areas
• Clean
• Kyaks were great
• Hot tub was great
• House almost fragrance-free
• Hot outdoor shower was great
Cons:
• Communication felt pushy, unhelpful, and uncomfortable
o Very lengthy check-in packet felt patronizing due to the tone and extent of the instructions.
o Karen’s messages were long, repetitive and or off topic. In one, she expressed her dissatisfaction with Canada not allowing un-vaccinated Americans to enter during COVID.
• No extra bath towels provided
o Only one set of bath towels (full towel, hand towel, washcloth) for each person—no bathmats, no doormat near hot tub.
o I called Karen to ask about extra towels. She said the one set per person provision was communicated beforehand. I didn’t argue, but this was not true. When I finally said we’d just go buy more towels on our own, she mentioned sending a housekeeper the next day if it was still an issue. Karen’s unhelpfulness led me to decide to solve the problem on my own. When I tried to end our call, Karen kept repeating the same unhelpful information. I had my hands full, but it took three tries to politely end the call.
• Awkward layout
o Compared to other beach houses, this layout felt awkward. I think I spent half of my stay walking up and down stairs.
• Public boardwalk adjacent to house
o Constant foot traffic next to and in front of the house made it felt less private and noisier at times.
• Kitchen was small
