About this property
Historic district cottage near downtown Ft. Myers - Artful Abode!
An Ideal Vacation Starts Here!
This beautifully renovated 1339 sq ft cottage retreat is just off palm tree lined McGregor, just minutes to the Edison Ford Estate and historic downtown. Enjoy cruising on our bikes as you explore the River District. River sunsets are just a 5 minute walk to the end of the street. Nearby, find golf, a multitude of dining options, and shopping.
Artful Abode is a space with curated eclectic art and a large private screening room for movie lovers on the 75" FIRE TV.
Our home is perfect for retired couples, corporate stays, seasonal guests, best friend vacations, small families, and business travelers. Two separate bedrooms and three beds make sleeping four adults easy.
PETS
We are sorry, but as we use the property monthly ourselves and I have asthma on top of lung damage from radiation treatments, NO ANIMALS ARE PERMITTED. Thank you for understanding (This was the reason we needed our own place.) I was ADA exempt from work due to the severity of my condition. I deem to keep the cottage as allergy free as possible due to my personal needs.
LIVING AREA
We believe in great art, stimulating conversation, and a good cocktail. To this end, our living room is set up for flow. You’ll note a simply divine, luxurious, and artistic Mid-Century Modern blue velvet sofa which serves as the anchor for the room. Twin muted mustard-toned chairs face this dynamic velvet sofa, and a tri-level wood table allows for beverage breaks. An artistic corner pyramid table blends the tones which are echoed in the rug. A cell phone charging outlet is conveniently located here.

SCREENING ROOM
While some guests select to converse in the living room, others may choose to slide the barn door and enter what those who enjoy a film on the big screen would call a “screening room”. Here, a 75” flat screen FIRE TV allows you to stream your favorite flicks and shows as you sink into our oversized sectional seating six. NOTE: This is the ONLY TV in the home.
ART: Sparrow by Elle Rusinova
DINING AREA
Even the table is art. A beautiful smoothed “live edge” table with a bench for two and chairs for four adjoins the formal living room.

KITCHEN
Our white and bright kitchen was designed with the consultation of a true “kitchen-ista”. The must haves of a spice rack drawer; lazy Susan corner cabinets; lower cabinets with shelves that pull out (no reaching and searching for pots and pans!); a tall cabinet for wine and spirits; soft-close drawers; great knives; all brand-new matching Samsung appliances were all on the list.
Refrigerator: You’ll find filtered cold water and ice are dispensed through the refrigerator door.
Stove and oven; Vent hood
Dishwasher: This is a smart dishwasher! It will open at the end of the cycle to allow the dishes to cool.
Coffee maker: A Kuerig is convenient, but you’ll also find regular drip coffee maker.
Other appliances: Blender, a four slot toaster, blender stick.

QUEEN ROOM
Our queen room serves as a perfect master and seems to whisper, “Sleep happens here.” Situated at the back corner of the home, this room invites you to calm with a soothing color palette of soft whites and light grey. A variety of pillows types are found here because we know how important it is to have the "right" pillow. A remote controlled ceiling fan soothes sleepers with a light breeze. Twin mid-century modern nightstands sport lamps with charging ports.

DOUBLE ROOM
Our guest room features two double beds - each with a different type of new mattress because we all sleep differently. This light and airy room sports a soothing palette to aid in relaxation. Window blinds are covered with sheer drapery; the floor between the beds has a gorgeous rug — the influence behind the color palette. For your comfort and convenience: A remote controlled ceiling fan keeps a cool breeze going; a variety of pillow types are available; and a charging station is built in to the nightstand.

BATHROOM
Our bathroom is a complete remodel and the choices made here were with the thought of ease. The bathroom floor is a textured hexagon tile that blends seamlessly into the shower, i.e., there is not a lip on the floor. The shower head allows for a soothing rain fall to envelope you and the detachable shower wand makes it easy to rinse off. Twin towel hooks allow for simple draping of bath sheets (YES!) and towels; the wide basin sink is perfect for washing, and the lower cabinet contains additional towels, including a clear bin with makeup towels. Bath products such as body wash, shampoo are included.
LAUNDRY
Full-sized and stacked, the Samsung SMART washer and dryer are in our “mud-room” area, just off the kitchen. Laundry detergent is provided, and a full cycle of wash and dry can be done in under 50 minutes!
OUTDOORS
Sit under the oversized umbrella and enjoy great conversation with your family on the paver and rock patio - right outside the French Doors! An oversized fenced in backyard with mature trees, passion fruit vines, and a storage shed (bikes). NOTE: There are plants here that are toxic to pets. Again - DO NOT BRING PETS!
Note: Landscaping is not yet complete.
WHAT SETS US APART
We aim to keep our home as allergy free as possible. This means no carpets or heavy drapery. No smoking, vaping, or pets. We take trash out each time we leave the home, and remove all trash daily to avoid welcoming critters. This is our home, our roots. It is where we are from. Our family literally lives within minutes, (two streets over!) and we visit often. One of us is a professional photographer, art educator, and cancer survivor who does not watch TV or cook (but a good Sundance film is always welcome!); the other a master in the kitchen, Packer fan, and lover of history. We’ve created a space that works for each of us: Fabulous artwork on white walls, a coordinating color palette and quiet space; a fabulous kitchen, and huge TV, and a variety of books. Each room has a cell phone charging outlet and ceiling fan. All of the necessities are here.
NOTES
Security cameras on premises monitor all entry areas.
This home is not a “child-safe” in that there are no outlet protections or locks on cabinets, and there is a step down into the screening room. Fine art, vintage furniture pieces, and an expensive sofa in the living room. Mature children are welcome;)
No parties - immediate eviction, no refunds, and $1000 fine.
No pets. No smoking, No vaping. - Immediate eviction, $750 mitigation fine for sanitizing the entire home (walls, furniture, etc.)
NOTE: Motion activated security cameras are located at front door and back door and record sound and video. Do not cover or tamper with these devices.

About the host
Hosted by Deb

I am an art educator for middle school/junior high and a professional photographer. I had managed homes in Park City, Utah, but I don't vacation in my home town! My husband is a history buff, loves to cook, and has personally designed the kitchen and bathroom of this home. We are here monthly. And, we have family just two streets over!
I am also cancer survivor/patient, and a research advocate at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. I have damage to my left lung from radiation treatments, plus asthma, making it difficult to breathe in certain environs. I like to keep my place as sterile as possible for my health, and realize others might be in a similar position. There are NO carpets (only a few rugs), and no dust collecting items.
