Beware of Bed Bugs, Unsanitary

I teied to give the property one star but the app would not allow. We checked in after the 4pm check-in time. Dovid admitted us into the property but said our room was not ready because the duvet needed to be changed. We waited an additional 15min. When we walked in the room, we IMMEDIATELY noticed a bed bug crawling across the white bedspread. We took a video of it, then left the room. The last thing we wanted was to have our clothes and bags infected. The over all feel of the family hotel is a poorly maintained not very clean property. We spoke to the owner who refused to give us a refund or even a partial refund. WE filed a dispute with VRBO who responded they would not support our claim because we didn’t stay in the room and document more bugs to qualify as an infestation. We were then stuck in New York City, out the cost of two nights in an unsanitary hotel with bed bugs because we were unwilling to stay in a property that clearly has an issue.Very Disappointed in the owner and VRBOs response after many years of using the service.we plan to plan to report the hotel to the health department.

Fantastic location in a classic hotel that feels like old New York

We had a great time! The location is awesome -- so many awesome things to do within walking distance plus its super close to the subways. We even walked over the bridge into Williamsberg very easily. If you travelling with kids or are a light sleeper, ask to be placed in the front of the hotel. The neighborhood can be loud on weekend nights.

The Beautiful Blue Moon

It was like staying with family. The past ones were delicious. The room was pleasant and the patio delightful. The neighborhood was a great walking experience. The owner and staff attentive and helpful. Much care was taken with the artwork and decor. There was no microwave but the stove heated briskly. I hope to return.

Great spot!

We loved the character of the neighbourhood and the building. The owners and staff are all friendly and up for a chat. One of the owners gave us a lovely history of the building and the renovations theyve done, along with the original touches they preserved. Our room was fantastic for the price, and we appreciated having the little balcony and kitchenette. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to the city.
