Terrically Equipped Apartment in an Outstanding Location
Two of us stayed in this very compact. But terrifically well equipped 4th floor apartment in a very charming building and neighborhood in the Marais, just a couple of blocks in different directions from the Seine, the No.1 line at the St. Paul Metro station, a shopping area in the re des Rivoli with every service needed for daily living from groceries to pharmacies and more. The neighborhood itself is filled with hundreds of shops and restaurants, all charming.
The apartment, which has just been cleaned - and cleaned very well when we arrived - is small, but equipped with every appliance, utensil, and more, that you ever might need. The bathroom is tiny by US standards but has an excellent shower, great hot water supply and pressure, plenty of big towels, and a towel heater. Also a dish washer, a clothes washer/drier, and lots of cook ware and eating ware. The queen size bed was very comfortable. I would guess the apartment was completely redone from top to bottom about 10 years ago and done very well. There were two of us and we were very comfortable. Three or four could be doable but it would be very tight. The queen sized bed fills the tiny bedroom entirely and the fold out couch is a large love seat in size.
Pascal, the owner, is very accessible, personaable, and helpful. He met us at the apartment and spent all the time we needed on any questions we had.
Aside from recommending two as the ideal number of occupants, I would offer two other pieces of advice. The apartment faces a narrow but active cobblestone street, which sometimes can be noisy. Both of us slept very well every Night of our eight day stay. But I’m a light sleeper and needed high quality ear plugs which I brought with me.
My second advice is to keep in mind the building is very charming in part because it's old. It’s on the fourth floor, there is no elevator, and the stairs are quite narrow, steep, winding and there is s narrow open view from top to bottom. These are not stairs for the faint of heart - but I will say I am 70, I walk with a cane because I have balance problems, and I have a bad fear of heights. But I made it up and down the stairs a number of times a day, and I’d do it again. Be aware the stairwell lights are on a timer and all go off at once. If one of you is slow, the other should go ahead and stand next to the light switch on each landing
All in all, , we had an excellent stay at this trrrific apartment. Thank you, Pascal!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay here. The apartment was exactly what we hoped for... the neighborhood is divine..... super convenient to the M1.... got everywhere we needed so easily. Slept well... so quiet.... will most definitely stay here next time we visit Paris. Thank you SO much!!
Wonderful apartment in a great location
We have had a great week in the apartment. It has everything we needed and truly was a home away from home. Fantastic location. The apartment is on the 4th floor ( 65 steps) but this affords a light filled apartment. Bakeries and supermarkets a 5 min walk away as is the metro. We will stay here again
Perfect location with the metro 1 block away or 1 minute walk!
The property is as described. Very clean and brand new everything! I rent and host on VRBO and this is by far one of the better apartment that I stayed at in Paris.
Merci Pascal for your hospitality and the Nespresso café!
French living for a tourist!
Our apartment was in the perfect location to explore Paris from and return to throughout the day if needed. Pascal was great and had all the amenities set up for an enjoyable stay with also checking in on us to see if we needed any further assistance while in Paris. While the stairs were many they were a good balance to work off all the wonderful french cakes and pastries! We felt completely at home here and plan to come again to enjoy this wonderful city. We recommend "Elegance Marais"!
