About this property

Casa Colibri x Paisaje (which means Hummingbird Escape ) is nestled in the mountains above Ojochal in a 24 hour guard gated community.
With the ocean breezes by day and the cool mountain air at night rarely is the air conditioning needed. Listen to the sounds of the jungle with the howler monkeys, scarlet macaws and toucans visiting daily. With views for miles of Cano Island along with Corcovado National Park in the distance. You can spend the day relaxing in the private pool or lounging under the large terraza having cocktails or just looking at the breathtaking views. Cook gourmet meals in the fully modern and complete kitchen. There is also a gas grill to cook from.

You will be approximately 15 minutes from the many fantastic beaches in this region (nine) which have the warm blue Pacific Ocean rolling in. Playa Tortuga which is a National Reserve for Sea Turtles is the closest beach, which has many caves and lots of wildlife. Whale and dolphin watching trips are famous in this region.

Besides the amazing nature that surrounds you, there is also the convenience of the nearby grocery stores, pharmacy, doctor and delicious cafes and restaurants that this village is known for. There are many activities to do like surfing, kayaking, standup paddleboard, snorkeling, and swimming. You can do some hiking, birdwatching, and wildlife walks or for more of an adventure there are ATV tours, horseback tours, canopy tours/zip lines, sport fishing, and golf. Just this year a new pickle ball court was built.

We really enjoyed our stay

The house was beautiful with a lovely view. We did have some issues with the water turning off on us suddenly and the road is quite an adventure to get to the house. Definitely best suited if you want a staycation without leaving the house too frequently. This was our home base while we were working in Uvita and provided a nice quiet get away for our group. The kitchen is nice and having a washer dryer and AC in the bedrooms was essential. We had some issues getting in and out of the main gates but luckily there is 24 hour help. The property manager was available and easy to reach.

Superbe environnement

La villa était très bien, les deux chambres de la propriété sont identiques et offre un bon confort, les lits sont confortables et l'air climatisé fonctionne bien pour offrir une bonne nuit de sommeil. La position de la villa est superbe et la vue sur la mer est impressionnante, offrant des couchés de soleil formidables. La piscine pour sa part était bien mais le gestionnaire avait de la difficulté à maintenir une qualité d'eau, puisqu'il fait très chaud et que le soleil plombe durant presque toute la journée dans la piscine, l'eau se trouble facilement (algue). Il y a à chaque jour de petite coupure de courant qui ne dure que quelques secondes ce qui est un inconvénient lorsque l'on regarde la télé ou que l'on utilise le Wifi. La cuisine est bien équipée, le poêle est au gaz et il y a un BBQ. L'accès à la villa est quelque peu difficile car le chemin est en montagne et une bonne partie de la route est un chemin rocailleux avec des fortes montées et descentes. Vous devez avoir un 4 x 4 pour vous déplacez de la villa vers le bas de la montagne. La villa possède aussi une casita qui peut offrir de l'espace pour les enfants ( pour 3 personnes) avec douche, réfrigérateur, air climatisé etc...

We are Midwesterners that chose to escape the brutal winters in Costa Rica. We searched many places before settling on Costa Rica and many different locations within Costa Rica before settling on Ojochal.

Why they chose this property

As we journeyed around Costa Rica we noticed a comment in a local magazine that caught our attention. The locals call this place " Where the mountains meet the sea"
As we made our way down the Pacific coast looking at properties in Jaco, Dominical and Uvita it was here in Ojochal that we fell in love with the village, it's people and the culture.
With over 35 restaurants in the area it is also called the culinary capital of Costa Rica. With French, Mediterranean, Spanish, Dutch and South American Restaurant's it's easy to see why. In a gated community with many residents from across the globe Casa Colibri is truly in a global community. The views and sounds of the jungle and the ocean with the mountains as a backdrop Casa Colibri is one of a kind. Views of Corcovado National Park and Cano Island in the distance.
Close to many attractions including Whale watching, Sierpe Mangrove tours where you will see several species of Monkey's, sloths, Cayman, Crocodiles, Scarlet McCaw's, Toucans and much much more minutes away.
