Mountain Views & Meadowlarks
You know it’s a great place when you’re sad to leave it! We stayed at this delightful cottage in April 2024 while enjoying a few days of fly fishing. This cozy and comfortable cottage is located on a beautiful property with absolutely amazing views of the mountains and valley. The place has been thoughtfully stocked with amenities; is well organized, pristine clean and well maintained. Hosts Blaine and Sue are gracious and welcoming, and have thought of every possible detail towards their guests’ comfort and convenience. I really can’t say enough about Blaine & Sue - such good people and tremendous VRBO hosts. We enjoyed many evenings on the patio taking in the mountain view while listening to the meadowlarks. The town of Stevensville is a short drive away - a charming place to explore with quaint shops, restaurants and coffee shops. We have visited this area several times over the years and can’t wait to return.

Perfect In Every Way
The cottage was perfect! It had everything we needed. The scenery from the cottage porch was often breathtaking. The cottage was a peaceful and comfortable refuge from our several fly fishing and hiking excursions…both of which were nearby. From the beginning to the end, the hosts could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We hope to make it back to Montana and Bitterroot Sky Cottage soon!

Perfect!
Can't say enough good things about both the property manager and the property itself. Location is perfect mid Valley, the views are stunning and the property managers are so thoughtful in every aspect. The home is brand new, super clean and is stocked with literally anything you need. If by chance you needed anything else, they are so accommodating. We had an amazing week and will definitely be back!

Lovely Bitterroot cottage stay
First, the hosts are amazingly gracious and have put a lot of thought into amenities and the guest experience, with recommendations for activities, local attractions, and restaurants. Communication was excellent, and the hosts asked for feedback on our stay and what the cottage provides. The cottage is modern, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, with cozy outside space and luscious gardens. We learned much about honey berries, as the hosts grow them in their garden. The view takes your breath away. Perfect location to explore both the Missoula area to the north and Bitterroot Valley and rivers to the south. We mainly hiked and fly fished, but there are lots of other things to do in the area. Downtown Stevensville is quaint, with cafes, shops, and restaurants. Easy access to grocery stores, gas, etc. This cottage is perfect for a couple's getaway. We would definitely make a return visit.

About the host

Hosted by Blaine and Sue Billman

Host profile image
Sue's roots are in Virginia and Blaine's primarily in Oklahoma but we've been mountain people for the past 40 years. Sue had a career in IT project management and Blaine as a wildlife artist and if we had it to do all over again, we'd be involved in agriculture of some sort. We both love to play in the dirt. We're musicians of a sort and love hiking, biking, ballroom dancing, and watching sunsets together.

Why they chose this property

When we retired we decided to find a place in mountain country, somewhat in-between our 2 kids with some acres to raise goats and start a small farm; God led us to the Bitterroot. With a little over 11 acres to work with, we've been naturally restoring the field grasses, establishing a honeyberry orchard, building a greenhouse and vegetable garden, and raising chickens. Our home is now a working small farm.

What makes this property unique

What made us fall in love with this place? Simply put - the beauty and humility of it. The majesty of the Bitterroots; the everchanging and dynamic weather, the fabulous night skies, the history, and the possibilities - we find all these and more to be so much greater than ourselves. Each day is a blessing we are grateful for.
