About Laurie Sullivan
We've thoroughly enjoyed hosting hundreds of groups from around the world since 2006 and continue a tradition of providing gracious amenities and old-fashioned hospitality. We raised a family here and are happy to share suggestions for local dining, shopping, cultural, recreational activities and day trips in the surrounding villages of the Rock River watershed.
Why Laurie Sullivan chose Juneau
Prairie House is a great getaway for relaxing and enjoying nature with family and friends in an inspiring natural setting on the Rock River downstream from Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Area. The custom prairie style home sits atop a glacial drumlin overlooking 100 acres with panoramic views of prairie, lake and woods. It was designed by Madison Architect, Arlan Kay, who grew up on a farm in Iowa with a love of the land and took great care to tuck the home into the hillside to complement its beautiful natural surroundings. The house features local lannon stone and red oak with an abundance of natural light. There are 7 skylights along the rooftop that Arlan referred to as the 'spine of light' along with ceiling to floor windows across the living room and kitchen, and views from every bedroom.
What makes this Place unique
We planted an 18 acre prairie on the property in 1999 with 50 friends standing shoulder to shoulder hand broadcasting the seed. The panoramic views and hiking trails that wind along prairie, woods, and backyard with organic garden and orchard create a relaxing and unique natural setting for a family or group getaway.
