Sawmill Creek Cottage (SJ County permit # 99SJ50) offers secluded peace for your island getaway. Comfortable and private, it is just a one mile from Friday Harbor.
The 400 sq. ft. cottage is the original caretaker's cottage from the '50's. It is small, but ushered into the modern world with renovated bathroom, separate bedroom with a respected Tempur-Pedic brand queen bed, and full kitchen. The kitchen has a quartz counters and new appliances, including washer/dryer. After researching sleeper sofas for the living room, American Leather sleeper sofa won us over with it's comfort.
The cottage sits on a shared low bank beach on a small salt water cove known as Argyle Lagoon. There is a pond and stream on one side, which provides privacy and acts as a natural boundary. You will share the property with blue herons, kingfishers, eagles, and the occasional deer or fox, and watch the moon rise bigger than life over North Bay at dusk. Enjoy the outdoor firepit in the evenings.

The secluded yard offers a patio table and barbecue. Blackberry pies are there for the picking in early autumn. In the quiet winter months, create a second honeymoon or holiday turkey memories in this snug warm cottage.

Cozy Island Bay Cabin

This beautiful cabin / cottage was the perfect for two adults to relax and unwind. It’s the perfect vibe for cozy + calm energy, is right on the water, minutes from downtown, and easily accessible. Two out of the three days were cloudy and grey, and on the third day the sun came out and we saw the space in all its glory. The space is well stocked with many of the things you may need during your stay and the wood fire stove warms the place up quickly during the chilly days. This place is dreamy + worth the stay. Enjoy!

AMAZING!

This little cottage was cozy, but not cramped. It is perfect for 2 people. NOTHING to complain about. The hosts were helpful if needed, the view was beautiful and the cottage was perfect.

Loved this cottage!

My favorite part of my stay at this cute and cozy waterfront cottage was having my coffee in the mornings with a beautiful sunrise! There was everything my friend and I needed at the cabin plus we were amazed by all the wildlife we got to see on our adventures on the island. So fun!

SJ County permit # 99SJ50. We are Alaskans with roots in Friday Harbor. Victor is a life long Alaskan commercial fisherman who is now a merchant mariner. Phebe’s ties to the island go way back to the joy of arriving each summer from Alaska on the ferry. The story continues, as we hope that our guests (and our grandchildren!) are creating memories just like that during their visits to the island. Come see us!

When we bought the property we saw the cottage as a place for our family and friends to stay when they came to visit us. We've found we can offer it as a vacation rental as well, and hope to make our visitors to the cottage feel at home.
