Growing up in New Jersey and going to the shore during the summer was a ritual. Those beaches were crowded, noisy and hectic. Brigantine is different and you realize that when you drive over the bridge to get to the island. There is a calmness and peacefulness about it. There are only a few streets that separate the bay from the ocean and you easily can bike all around the island.
