Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware
We’ve been visiting the gorgeous island of Aruba for 20 years. We own a timeshare in the Marriott OC and have always been delighted with the Marriott, Tierra del Sol, beautiful beaches, wonderful restaurants and warm hospitality of the people of Aruba. Until now.
We booked this unit on 8/11 for the week of 08/13-20. From the start it was an unpleasant experience. The host was unresponsive via phone or email for multiple days. When he responded he didn’t give us the unit # (the address in the listing is for Tierra del Sol) or the contact for the property manager. Instead he gave us turn by turn directions to the unit, which is in a multi unit building. Luckily the property manager popped his head out and waved us into the driveway.
Upon entering the unit, the mirror inside the door was splattered with something. Not a great first impression and things went steadily downhill from there.
Dirty kitchen countertops, stove top, cabinets, and kitchen sink. Furniture was covered in grime, dust and crumbs. I pointed this out to the property manager who took pictures, I presumed to show the cleaning people.
Patio - Slider doors are off the tracks and encrusted with sand/grime.
Bedrooms - Closets musty smell and had minimal bath & beach towels that were damp to the touch. An inch of dust on furniture and ants climbing wall.
Needless to say, we didn’t stay at this property. The owner was dismissive of our concerns and refuses to refund our fee. Don’t stay here!
