Our cozy, historic farmhouse is located right on Route 100 with easy access to great spots like the Waterbury Reservoir, the Cider Mill and just a few minutes away from all the hot spots in Stowe.
This all-season Vermont getaway is close to outdoor activities, restaurants, and local cider, chocolate, cheese, and shopping.
This is a studio apartment, connected to the main house with a private entrance. In the main area, we offer a queen-sized bed with a private full kitchen, table and chairs and a private bathroom with a shower and a claw-foot tub.
Down the short hallway, you'll find another queen-sized bed with a small table and chairs.
This is perfect for a small group of friends or family who are looking for a cozy getaway.
Guests will have a private entrance to the Lonely Goat, while the main house is accessed through a separate door.
The Lonely Goat gives travelers a perfect spot to soak up the splendor of Vermont!
Enjoy a 5 minute walk to the reservoir on our Right of Way. There is a beautiful view of the lake and mountains…sunsets are lovely.
Within 1/2 a mile:
We love Cold Hollow Cider Mill for of course the apple cider, but also amazing cider doughnuts, plus a great gift shop. We frequently eat lunch or breakfast across the street at Apple Core - Vermont to the Core is my favorite sandwich and I always get a flight of hard cider (because it’s so hard to pick just one!). You must also visit the Cabot cheese store - you can’t beat Vermont Cheddar cheese, and they have a lot of other specialty foods.
Lake Champlain Chocolates is also just down the road, with great chocolates and ice cream!
If you like spirits, try Smugglers Notch Distillery for their award winning vodka, or my favorite, the Maple Bourbon. They do tastings!
Sunflower Natural Foods has many gluten-free and vegan options, plus a great local beer and cider selection. They are also off the charts friendly.
2 Miles away:
Ben and Jerry’s is a must…ice cream just tastes better freshly made! Also try to take a tour and walk the grounds…including the ice cream graveyard.
Zenbarn is a great casual place for dinner with ping pong, chess, connect 4, and checkers upstairs and often live music and a full bar.
3.5 Miles away:
Waterbury Village is a cute town with great restaurants. Our favorites are The Reservoir and Blackjack Pub (upstairs at Blackjack the bartender makes incredible cocktails).
10 Minutes away:
Stowe Village is absolutely charming with great restaurants and shopping!
20-25 Minutes away:
Spruce peak is an easy 20 minute drive for Stowe skiing and ice skating. Park free for 1 hour to pick up passes, etc. Then park free at Solstice parking and take the gondola over. Have lunch at The Whistle Pig or Skinny Pancake. Stowe has a great range of slopes. You’ll have a blast!
The Lonely Goat is an 1850's Farmhouse with original floors and beams, perfect for guests who enjoy unique accommodations. The cozy home is situation just off Waterbury-Stowe Road, providing quick and easy access to travel to all your destinations, but also close enough to hear the traffic. White noise machines are provided for guests that may be distracted by traffic.
