Cottage, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)
We're a family of four with two active young boys and love watersports, taking long walks on the beach and relaxing with friends and family. We particularly enjoy windsurfing, surfing, sailing and kayaking - and want to add kiteboarding and fishing to the list! Based in central NC, we race to the Outer Banks at every opportunity. Our kids love to kayak, crab, climb Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, visit the turtles and take the free ferry across to Ocracoke. We all love the friendly, laid-back atmosphere on the Outer Banks, and the amazing sights and seafood!

Why Owner chose Salvo
Since moving to NC in 2007 we found ourselves visiting the Outer Banks more and more often. The beautiful soundfront views and unspoiled beaches of Salvo soon became our favorite destination - even in the height of summer the beaches are uncrowded and there is always a quiet spot to windsurf or kayak on the sound. The major attractions are all close by too: Hatteras and Bodie Lighthouses, The Graveyard of the Atlantic, Lost Colony and Wright Brothers Museums. Our breath was literally taken away when we first saw Pelican Point - it is a little piece of paradise by the sound. You have to experience the stunning 180 degree wetland & sound views and 200 year old live oaks to fully appreciate the wild beauty and see why we love this spot.
What makes this Cottage unique
Pelican Point has hundreds of feet of soundfront access, over an acre of outdoor space and is only a short walk to the ocean beaches. There is a small harbor next door - with full guest access - allowing easy boat launch with a concrete slip. There are rental shops nearby for kayaks, surfboards, bikes and beach equipment, and for kiteboarders Real Watersports and The Slick are just to the north. Grocery and fishing supply shops are a five minute drive and a cinema and larger shopping district can be found in Avon, a 15-20 minute drive away.

1st trip to Outer Banks
Our large family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pelican Point! It was the perfect spot for us while at the beach! We loved the sound side and the easy access to water. As well as the pool and hot tub right there on the property. It’s an unassuming spot for sure! A secret gem hidden back. We did have a few issues while we were there. But it did not change our experience at all. We were blessed to be able to stay here to experience our first vacation in the Outer Banks!
Amazing view of the sound, even without going to the end of the pier. Property was well-maintained and owners/management company were very responsive.
We enjoyed our stay at Pelican Point♥️
The renting procedure was smooth
Nice Fit For Our Family of 11!
Our family loved the location of the property. Some of our group enjoyed the dock for fishing and crabbing. During the week, we got a dozen keeper crabs which was a little disappointing. But, the beautiful sunsets on the soundside were awesome! Our family enjoyed the pool table, the hot tub and the swimming pool. We feel that the couches are due to be replaced and mattress toppers would improve the beds. On the day we arrived, electricity had been off six hours in the morning. So, the cleaning crew hadn't finished cleaning by check-in. We would have appreciated being notified by the property manager of this 1 1/2 hour delay. When we attempted to use the oven, smoke filled the kitchen due to the excessive spills in it. When we notified the property manager, someone was promptly sent over to manually clean the oven. I believe this problem was created by the power outage. It was nice to know that a problem was quickly addressed. Overall, the property was a nice place for our family!
We had 12 total, 8 being teenagers. The property had so many hang spots for everyone. The sunsets were gorgeous and peaceful! We loved it!!!
Outer Banks vacation
Our family loved this cottage and guest house. The marsh with the birds and the sun set on the Sound were good for the soul. The pool and hot tub were a hit. The ramps and wooden walkways were excellent for the wheel chair. We would suggest however lower lips or mini ramps at shower and outside doors. We enjoyed attractions nearby and beaches. Would love to come again.
