Avoid this place unless you want the owners to cancel on you without reason

I booked this place a couple of weeks in advance for Thanksgiving weekend. I booked it for six family members, all of us requiring to either drive 20+ hours (myself included) or fly from out of state. A few days beforehand, I message the owners asking if we could have a few more folks for Thanksgiving dinner but wasn’t sure if it was classified as an “event”. I asked as my father had cancer and recent surgery, and this location would have been less strenuous in comparison to another family member’s apartment as it had less stairs. Not a big deal if the answer was no but figured I’d message and check. They weren’t going to sleep the night or anything. The asked how many more people and that they had 7 steps. We replied with the number of people and said 7 stairs was fine. Then they just…cancelled. The night before. I asked what happened, and got no reply. I rebooked thinking maybe there was a miscommunication. Then…another cancellation but this time, 5 hours before our arrival with no word as to why. I asked and still got no reply. I then read the review prior to mine and saw that it happened to them as well. It is unfortunately not a miscommunication. They just don’t want to communicate or host for whatever reason and should just take their listing down. Worst Vrbo experience I’ve ever had to deal with.

Make sure to communicate after booking, I had to call them the same day of my booking after driving hours to get checking information just to let me know there was no availability after taking my money. I made the reservation 3 weeks prior, he wanted me to cancel the reservation like why would I do if you cancel you won't get your money back. Very unprofessional!

Birthday shopping trip

The property is very nice and clean. Each bedroom had a king size bed in it. We were there to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday and she wanted to shop in NY. We had issues with the passcode but the host fixed it right away. The only downside is the house is in a rough area of the city and it was a lot of litter and debris outside.

Comfortable apartment

We (family of 5) rented this apartment while visiting NYC. We took an Uber to Penn Station, then the PATH to get to WTC, so the travel time to get to NYC was not ideal (about an hour each way). The neighborhood does not have great eating places and it does not look clean (but we felt safe). There was a problem with the lock at the entrance door, but the host responded quickly to our messages. Also, the host was kind to let us store our suitcases for a few more hours the last day after we checked out and we were waiting for our flight at a nearby cafe place.
