If you’re in need of a beach getaway and want a small-town vibe, Marco Island perfectly fits the bill. Its location in Southwest Florida is the ideal homebase to check out pristine Gulf Coast beaches, watersports, wildlife, golfing and out-of-this-world dining. It’s the largest island of the area known as the Ten Thousand Islands, and opportunities abound to get out on the water and into the dazzling Florida sunshine.

For spotting land-based creatures, Otter Mound Preserve has a great walking trail through a shaded forest habitat that many animals call home.
