About this property

Clover Hill Cottage | Pet-Friendly, Spacious Yard & 5 min. to Black Mtn!

Originally constructed in 1948, Clover Hill Cottage was completely rebuilt in 2022 and is now a Certified Green-Built home. Located on a sunny, spacious lot, the yard has been transformed into a pollinator's paradise with plants and flowers thoughtfully planted to create and support native birds and wildlife. Nods to the original cottage can be seen throughout the home, from the exposed brick to the custom-built bench and coat rack reclaimed from a barn on the property. Cathedral ceilings in the kitchen and primary bedroom allow for an abundance of natural light, creating a warm and inviting home away from the home. The eat-in kitchen is well-stocked for preparing meals and offers deck access so you can step outside to dine al fresco or plan the next day's adventures around the fire pit.

Up for a little friendly competition? A game of cornhole may be just the thing on those warm evenings. Easy, one-level living includes a living room with a natural stone gas fireplace and a den (pocket doors for privacy) with a desk and queen-size sleeper sofa. The primary bedroom offers a queen-size bed and en suite bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower and full-size stackable washer and dryer, and there is another bedroom that offers a queen-size bed.

Take in the gorgeous views of the surrounding Seven Sisters mountain range as you walk the elliptical trail at nearby Lake Tomahawk Park, where you can also enjoy an energetic tennis match, a summer swim at the Black Mountain Pool, and catch-and-release fishing (NC fishing license required). Known as the “Front Porch of Western North Carolina,” you'll spot the iconic red rocking chairs throughout the treasured small town of Black Mountain that stand as your reminder to slow down, pull up a chair, and relax. Like the setting of your favorite novel, Black Mountain is an idyllic mountain town brimming with history and charm.

Explore the timeless Town Hardware & General Store that offers so much more than housewares and tools, the quaint Sassafrass (on Sutton & Main) filled with spellbinding books and delightful toys, and the inspiring Seven Sisters Gallery and The Red House Studios & Gallery that sell handcrafted pieces and artwork by local artisans. Make sure you stop along the way for a bite to eat at one of Black Mountain's gourmet restaurants or cafes. From authentic Cuban cuisine to fresh vegetarian fare to culinary twists on southern staples, your taste buds will never get bored here. Just 10 minutes from town, you'll discover a hiker's paradise within the tranquil community of Montreat. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there's a trail for everyone.

Clover Hill Cottage is also a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Asheville, the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, and America's Largest Home, the Biltmore Estate, so you're never too far from pursuing your next-day adventure. Book a reservation at one of Asheville's acclaimed restaurants, grab a one-of-a-kind gift from one of the River Arts District's 270+ working artist galleries, blaze a trail through all of the craft breweries along Asheville's South Slope, roam the halls and ground of the historic Biltmore Estate, or drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway with the windows down listening to your perfectly-curated playlist as you take in the breathtaking views.

Please note: This home is pet-friendly with an additional fee per pet (max of 2). High-speed internet and a dedicated workspace are provided for your convenience.

Clean, quiet and Convenient

Well maintained home, with everything we needed for a week stay. The property manager was great with communication and on top of small requests like thicker pillows and all check in and out processes very simple. Appreciated options for small fee for early/late times as well. Property was just as described. Beds are on the firm side, for us adding a topper would help the comfort, but these are new and good quality beds, just firmer than our preference. I had to work while there and having the desk and ability to close off the workspace a bit was extremely helpful. Desk chair isn't one I'd want to work at too many days, but it was certainly sufficient for the few remote work days needed on this trip. Its not walkable to downtown, but it is a quiet and very convenient location for Black Mountain / Montreat, which we love, and a short 20m drive from Asheville and reasonable drive to many other tourist spots in the area. Small considerations. Blinds are not very dark. It would be nice in the future for some darker drapes or coverings to supplement especially in the summer with early sunrise / late sunset (esp if you have little ones that may be harder to keep in bed when its light in their room). Also need to bring your own towel if you'll go to a local pool or plan to dip in any streams / wading pools in the area so not to use their nice white towels for those purposes! Overall great stay and quality property management.
