About this property

Light-filled Carpenter's Cottage - 2 mi. north of downtown Stockbridge

This adorable wooden cottage feels bright, open, and spacious. It has modern amenities alongside its rustic charm. While it comfortably sleeps 2, there is ample room for a dinner party of 6. It sits on a south-facing hill, looking out towards Monument Mountain. Every single person who's walked through the door wants to live here!

Excellent wifi.

This location in Stockbridge is right in the heart of the Berkshires. It's a 4-minute drive to Stockbridge, 10-minute drive to Lenox, and 15-minute drive to Main St., Great Barrington. There are so many shops and restaurants to enjoy in these beautiful historic towns (we'll give you a guide of our favorites!). And then in the summer, enjoy a dip at Stockbridge Bowl beach, a picnic listening to music at Tanglewood, an outdoor performance at Shakespeare & Co, a house tour at Edith Wharton's The Mount or a farm tour and ice cream cone at High Lawn Farms. In the fall, there's a prehistoric hike at Ice Glen in Stockbridge, apple picking at Windy Hill Farm, or drink a cider by the fire at Hilltop Orchards. And then in the winter, there's skiing and tubing at Ski Butternut, Bosquet Mountain, or Catamount Resort.

*Beyond the north side of the property and the forest lies the freeway, so there is some road noise. We rarely notice it, but we want to point this out to those who are sensitive to traffic noise. We would be happy to provide ear plugs.*

About the host

Host profile image
We are a family of 8, and we have lived all over the country (Northern California, Dallas, Manhattan, Long Island, Houston, Brooklyn) before finding the perfect place to put down roots - the Berkshires. The natural beauty, the culture, the history, the architecture, the proximity to NYC - these are the reasons we visited, and then never wanted to leave!

Why they chose this property

Stockbridge is the heart of the Berkshires. It has its own charming little town with a beautiful library and nice shops, Stockbridge Bowl town beach, Tanglewood, but it's central to everything else: you're a short drive from Great Barrington and Lenox.

What makes this property unique

This location is just spectacular. After driving through downtown Stockbridge and then driving past the historic Berkshire Cottages and other beautiful properties on Prospect Hill Road, we are at the top of the hill, overlooking Monument Mountain. The cottage is next to our 1780 Colonial, a former stagecoach stop, which sits on 12 beautiful acres of meadow, forest, and stream.
