About this property

17th Century Rural House

Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly place. A 17th century home, located between Lacock and Corsham and ideal for exploring the nearby Cotswolds.
The accommodation is ideal for couples or families seeking a relaxing village experience and offers an enticing walled garden.

The front vestibule dated 1692 opens onto a panelled dining room with ornate plaster ceiling opposite the cosy living room with logburner. The sash windows feature original shutters.

A flagstoned kitchen includes a traditional oven, farmhouse table, nespresso coffee machine and two walk-in larders.

An additional study becomes a further bedroom using the sofa bed with premium thick mattress. A separate conservatory also faces the garden.

The second bathroom and a utility room are downstairs, perfect for muddy wellies and coats.

Upstairs offers a king-sized master bedroom, one large single/twin room and two other single rooms, a large high-pressure shower room and toilet. This floor also includes built in bookshelves, roof beams and traditional washbasins.

The unique stone walled garden features a converted medieval outdoor privy, pergola, pond, formal boxed hedging, well-maintained shrubs and flowers and lawn on three sides of the house.

There is a double off-street parking bay.

Guest have access to all areas except the separate garage. As this is a family home, there will be some personal objects and possessions around the house.

Gastard is a quiet village with a parish church and (vegan) pub. Other favourites 5 minutes away include the Pear Tree and the Methuen Arms for delicious food in delightfully traditional surroundings. Bath, built in Georgian honey-coloured "Bath stone" and one of the UK's most beautiful cities, is less than half an hour away. Other Wiltshire and Cotswold highlights in the area include Lacock, Corsham, Castle Combe (all of television fame), Malmesbury, Biddestone and the Westonbirt Arboretum.
Corsham is 5 mins by car, while Chippenham with train services to London is 15 minutes away. There is also easy access to the M4 motorway. Gastard has a village bus stop.
