Great in every way except . . .

We enjoyed are stay very much except that we were unable to make the futon couch into a bed. We had to give up and instead put the mattress on the floor.

A Great Treehouse Getaway

This house is stunning! You feel like you're in a treehouse. The owners left items so we could make breakfast, which was so generous. They also gave us a bottle of wine. The hot tub in the unit was great. The bed and pillows were very comfy, as were the towels. Getting onto the property was challenging. Hair-pin turns on an incrediby steep driveway. Getting up to this unit (the highest cottage) is a true challenge -- well over 100 steps, the top steps being worn out and a bit scary. The front deck and the top deck were worn out and dirty. I'm sure its difficult to maintain a house in the woods. Check in did not go smoothly. First, know that check-in is at a wine store in town. We asked the woman checking us in for a code or key, yet none was offered. So when we arrived at the cabin, it was locked. I called the host and with a few back and forths was able to get in. The host generously agreed to a noon checkout, which we really appreciated. But the host must have not relayed this info to housekeeping, because she showed up at 11am. My partner informed housekeeping that we were granted a noon checkout, and he encouraged her to touch base with the host. Yet not 30 minutes later, I was in the shower and heard a woman's voice downstairs. I was alone, as my partner was carrying bags down the multitude of steps to the car. To say I was startled to hear a stranger in the house as I stood there naked is an understatement! Despite the challenges, the trip overall was successful.
