About Sue Weintraub
Your host has had a design/photo business for over 36 years. After many years of producing hi-end full color brochures and catalogs, website design and photography have become my main focus. I am also a certified Tai Chi Chih instructor and enjoy teaching classes and sharing the benefits of this ancient moving meditation. For the past 30 years I have lived and worked at Knowles Landing. It's been quite the adventure renovating the Captain's House (Victorian) and the Carriage House. An avid kayaker, I have competed in equitation and hunter/jumper shows with my Percheron-thoroughbred mare, enjoy organic gardening, building rustic furniture, hiking, and photography. I was born in the Greater Hartford area and graduated from the Boston University School of Public Communication.
Sue Weintraub purchased this Estate in 1989
Why Sue Weintraub chose Middle Haddam
My boyfriend and I stayed at host homes in Capitol Hill in DC and at a former President's estate in Virginia. The experiences exceeded our expectations. Recently, while watching an eagle soar overhead, I realized Knowles Landing would make the ideal 'Home Away' – what a wonderful opportunity to meet people and embark on a new adventure. Making connections, sharing, enjoying life. I am sending out the for good people who love life and nature. Knowles Landing is sure to capture your heart...

Beautiful House in a Great Location
Charming large old house with lots of room to spread out and get comfortable. Beautiful views of the river and close to good restaurants and hiking trails..
Incredible time at Knowles Landing!
Knowles Landing was the perfect weekend escape! The property itself was beautifully kept; the river views were worth every penny. We enjoyed walking down by the water and sitting on the front porch wrapped in coats and blankets. The house was just what we needed for our group. We were able to all sleep comfortably and enjoy the bedrooms equally. Gathering in the living room and looking out the floor to ceiling window at the river was perfection. Sue was wonderful to work with and made our check in and check out process so simple. All in all this was a fantastic weekend at a beautiful location!
A piece of heaven
I felt like I was coming “home”.
We had a wonderful stay at this well maintained, historic, river front house.
Sue was a great host and we loved her garden. Kayaking was the highlight for all.
Lovely Gathering Place
A beautiful Victorian well maintained with a stunning view of the Connecticut River. It was a perfect place to gather with family. Comfortable beds, full kitchen, lots of outdoor activities included. The owner is very proud of her property rightfully so, but has a lot of rules and expectations of her guests.
Wonderful home for our fall family gathering
We thoroughly enjoyed our family weekend in this beautiful river front home. We loved the evening sunsets and the stunning New England foliage. The home is spacious and comfortable. Perfect for sharing family meals and time together. We took the Riverquest boat cruise and experienced the beauty of the CT River. Thank you Susan for your hospitality!
Wendy, thank you for choosing Knowles Landing for your family celebration! Next time you return, you must reserve a River Cruise with Captain Wheeler - he'll pick you up at my dock with his gorgeous 33' Egg Harbour for a sunset cruise, dock in Essex for a walkabout and meal, visit a favorite swimming or fishing destination, or just sit back and enjoy the magic of the CT River and its breathtaking wildlife!
