About this property

Small Victorian Cottage at Earlham, W/D, 100+Mbps Wifi

This is a small cottage, a Victorian era original built around 1900. It is right across the street from Earlham College, and just off Historic Nat’l Road/Highway 40. We are an easy walk to a grocery, medical care, a hardware store, restaurants, and churches. The Whitewater Gorge & Cardinal Greenway Trail is also within walking distance. We keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located guest home.
This listing includes: two private bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, bath and living/dining room.
The space
It is a small 2 BR cottage; an old, Victorian era home. The master bedroom is larger and has a full-size mattress. The second bedroom is small and has twin bunk beds.
A compact kitchen has everything you should need to prepare your own meals. A washer and dryer are available for your use on site.
I live in a private studio apartment at the back of the house with my tuxedo cat, Moses.
The internet is around 80-100Mbps and there are two televisions. One in the master bedroom and the other is in the shared common/living/dining room.
The Master bedroom TV has Roku, and the living/dining TV is a smart TV that uses Voice Assistance.

This is an entire house listing. All the rooms are available for your use.

Other things to note:
1) The front of the house is full of flowering perennial plants and medicinal herbs and does not generally get mowed. If a well manicured lawn is important to you, this is not one.
"A weed is a wildflower whose name we haven't learned yet, in the same way that a stranger is a friend we haven't met yet." -FINOLA

2) Please park on the street in front of the house and not in the driveway except for loading/unloading. A second, private apartment is located at the back of the house and we share a driveway.

3) The house was built over 120 years ago. You may expect that the ceilings are tall (11') and that the bathroom and kitchen are small.

Why they chose this property

Earlham College is a suburban neighborhood primarily made up of medium sized (three or four bedroom) to small (studio to two bedroom) single-family homes. Most of the residential real estate is occupied by a mixture of owners and renters. Many of the residences in the Earlham College neighborhood are older, well-established, built between 1940 and 1969. A number of residences were also built before 1940.

Due to its popularity among college students who already choose to live here, its walkability, and its above average safety from crime, the neighborhood is ideal for prospective or already-enrolled college students. Between semesters and during school breaks, you'll notice that the excitement here fluctuates with the college seasons. Despite the excitement however, parents of college-age children can rest easy knowing that this neighborhood has an above average safety rating.

The neighbors in the Earlham College neighborhood in Richmond are lower-middle income.

The most common language spoken in the Earlham College neighborhood is English, spoken by 89.7% of households. Some people also speak Spanish (4.0%).
