Stunning villa in peaceful location, private pool : Ideal self catering villa in a sought after part of the Karaburun peninsula. Full of romance, privacy and 180 degree sea views. The villa itself is a new build and has all the modern comforts you would find at home. All rooms have large balconies to take in the beautiful view across to the Greek island of Lesbos and the Turkish town of Foca. The open plan lounge/ kitchen area has a fireplace just in case it gets chilly, beautifully decorated and furnished. The fully fitted kitchen is a joy to use and is perfect for self catering whilst enjoying your friends and families company.
Karaburun is a wonderful village, full of charm. The restaurants are all excellent and famous for fresh fish. If you would like to explore the area- the city of Izmir (Turkeys third largest city) is 60 minutes drive. It is fantastic for shopping and has a world famous Bazaar to match Istanbul. Restaurants, bars and clubs in abundance. A stunning clear blue sea.

Day Trips and Wildlife: The ancient ruins of Ephesus (site of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world), the hot springs of Pamukkale, the ruins of Hieropolis and strolling the sea side cafes of Izmir
The Karaburun Peninsula has a rich wildlife stock. of which some are quite rare. Wild boar, fox, marten, badger, otter, hare, squirrel, birds of prey (eagle, buzzard, falcon etc.), water-turtles, river-crabs, chameleon, snakes, lizards, Tortoise, Bee Eaters as well as many butterflies and other insects like beetles, grasshoppers, praying mantis etc. are part of the Karaburun fauna.
Certainly one of the most important species present along the coasts of the Karaburun Peninsula, is the extinction threatened Mediterranean Monk seal, only 500 left in the world, of which about 100 are in Turkey. The shores of the Karaburun Peninsula hide several sea caves, where the Mediterranean Monk seals give birth and feed their pups. Most of the caves have been located and great efforts are made to protect the seals.

Vue extraordinaire

Twelve fantastic days in Kraburun
We (3 adults and 4 children) spent twelve fantastic days in the Bird's house. We found what Dean promised me over the phone, Turkey at its best. Although located only 2 hours away from Izmir and Chesme (a true tourist trap) we did not come across a non-turkish person during our whole stay and this is why speaking English is almost irrelevant. This is why you will not find a great deal of information in guide books. The house, definitely luxury type, provides everything you need, a lot of space and a very nice pool that our children (7-15 yrs) adored. We all enjoyed the panorama and the view from one of the three terraces over the Agean sea and its islands. A ten minutes walk brings you to nicely secluded beaches (all rocks) and the sea is crystal clear. This is why you will find diving stations in Karaburun also offering discovery dives for beginners like me. This was a very good experience, particularly because Dean was our instructor. The villa is about 1.5 km away from the harbour of Karaburun why you will find nice restaurants inviting you to a lovely sunset dinner. They all serve a lot of really fresh fish. The weekly market of Karaburun is something that should not be missed as it is a typical turkish market and for many of the peninsula the highlight of the week. Dean, his wife and Kenan, his housekeeper, will make your stay unforgetable. They were extremely friendly and helped us making reservations in restaurants, organising diving lessons and discovering the little secrets on the peninsula etc. Kenan also is a great cook who offers to cook a turkish dinner for you. This is a must-not-be-missed event. In summary, this place is ideal for people who go to Turkey because of the Turkish people and their way of life. If you are looking for historical places then Ephesus is the closest (still 2.5 hrs one way). This place is also well suited for families with children, ours hardly left the pool. We will definitely go back to the bird's house.

Lovely villa with stunning views
We spent two wonderful weeks in the Bird House in August. The owner Dean prices the villa very competitively and we honestly had everything we needed right on site. The table tennis and pool table plus the pool meant that we had lots to do. The villa is very comfortable and there is AirCon in 2 bedrooms for those who want it. Fans make the other rooms bearable but the beauty of the Karaburun peninsula is the constant breeze which makes very high summer temperatures bearable. There were 6 in our party and we had plenty of room and were well catered for. The position of the villa high up on the cliffs with breathtaking views was unbeatable. Two weeks of that has restored us to sanity. For us the best bit was the swimming from the rocks at the bottom of the hill. Just clear, blue crystal sea. The villa is in a very quiet area with no Brit type pubs or clubs ( which is why we chose it!) No one spoke English but we managed fine. The only real down side was the lack of decent restaurants. There were a few fish restaurants in the harbour area but the local cuisine was not outstanding. However , Dean's housekeeper is a fine chef and we hired him to cook us a BBQ one night. Fabulous! We managed a day trip to Ephesus which was definitely worth the long drive. If you are there in the summer months go later in the day to avoid all the day trips from the hotels. If you want a quiet, peaceful holiday with sun and sea, this villa is just perfect

A perfect holiday, we'll go again this year!
We spent three weeks last June in the Bird House (as the villa is named) and had a super holiday. The house is spacious, luxurious with a sober, tasteful interior decoration and the view from the terrace (THE place for meals and BBQ!) is superb. The pool is great and we particularly appreciated the privacy and the quiet environment. And if you need anything, Kanan, the housekeeper, is the kindest of men. Great swimming/snorkelling spots just down the hill. Also good for sunbathing. (No sand, rocks, but those can be easily made comfortable too) Or you can prefer one of the sand beaches in the village or, even better, that secluded sand beach a few miles away on the Karaburun peninsula. There's a supermarket in the village but for the "big" shopping upon arrival, we would recommend one of the bigger ones in Izmir or Cesme. A good butcher in Karaburun (ah, that spicy sausage!) and good fishmongers too. And don't miss the market on Wednesdays: tasty and really cheap vegetables. Good and pleasant restaurants along the seaside will introduce you to Turkish cuisine, unless you prefer grilled fresh fish. Breathtaking drives around and through the Karaburun peninsula, lovely Izmir and Cesme an hour's drive away, Ephese and surrounding archeological sites within reach (though we would recommend a night out for those): the place is great for touring too. As said, we'll go again this year...
