Stay away-infestation nightmare

Our stay at this property was an absolute disaster. From the moment we walked in, there was a funky smell throughout the house. We quickly discovered the cause: dead mice in traps behind the appliances. After reporting this to the host, they gave my personal phone number to a pest control company without asking — who did respond promptly and treated the home for wasps, spiders, ants, and mice.Unfortunately, after the treatment, the mouse activity actually increased. We began finding mouse droppings all over the counters, stove, and even in our bed. The mice chewed up a full pack of toilet paper, and my kids were afraid to even go into the kitchen. A giant spider hatched babies in the kitchen and we were attacked by wasps going in and out for a couple days. It was disgusting and distressing. We informed the host that we were leaving two weeks early due to the unsafe and unsanitary conditions and were refused any kind of refund. Instead of addressing the infestation seriously, the host bizarrely kept bringing up the fact that we brought a service dog — which VRBO clearly states does not need to be disclosed. It felt like a way to deflect from the real issue and accuse us of sneaking in a pet, which is both ignorant and discriminatory toward people with disabilities. To make matters worse, there were trail cameras set up to watch you and the driveway is shared which made getting in and out a little hassle.
