Pleasant stay with visiting elk
Had a pleasant stay. House was warm and comfortable with lots of interesting things to look at. The baker amongst was able to bake. (The oven and altitude took some adjustments but it worked.) Only had one elk visit that we noticed but it was interested in the dry leaves in front. Pleasant stay

About the host

We raised three magnificent children, who are each kind, caring and fun to be with. Although Gene has been retired for many years, I continue to be active in my work, marketing the Endangered Species book I wrote, seeing clients on a very part-time basis, nurturing our long-term marriage, spending quality time with our family, including our 6 granddaughters, being an advocate for animals and children, and loving the outdoors. After having walked the Camino, on my own, in 2015 and dubbing it as the most exciting adventure of my life, so far, I continue to love to explore life. When Gene was asked a question on our 25th anniversary, "what's your secret?," his response was, "I've always left the bird cage open." Great advice to others that has worked for me as we approach our 53rd anniversary. As much as we love wallowing in the magic of the Wood River Valley and all it has to offer, we also love our special winters in Baja, learning Spanish and organizing an annual auction for the orphanage in LaPaz. I love that I was named after my father's sister in Greece, Alexandra (which means helper of mankind), and from what I've learned--her door was always opened to "strangers."
Gene and I remodeled a portion of the home we've lived in for fifteen years, to accommodate our guests. Although our mailing address is Ketchum, we are south of city center by 8 miles in what is called "mid-valley." Our home is in an established quiet and friendly neighborhood, with large trees and a fully fenced yard. Summer fun includes a nearby local swimming pool, tennis and volleyball, but when the white stuff comes, it's skate or x/c skiing right outside the door. Baldy parking lots for downhillers is an easy 8 miles north from the Aspen Grove Suite. We are perfectly situated in "mid-valley" which means 10 minutes south of Ketchum and five minutes north of Hailey. Best of both worlds. World famous Sun Valley Village is minutes away

Why they chose this property

The photos show the amenities to the Suite, including swimming pool, volleyball, tennis, bike path, quiet time along the Wood River Valley. Private car is most convenient of course. We are two minutes to the highway which gives you the choice of north to Ketchum (8 miles) or south to Hailey (5 miles). Sun Valley is just adjacent to Ketchum city center. Mountain Rides travels north and south on Highway 75. Easily accommodates your needs as well as being moderately priced. As we live in the main house, I am willing to make myself available to interact with our guests. I'd welcome it in fact. A stone pathway leads you to the front door from the circular driveway and parking. A combination will be provided for the lockbox located to the left of the double doors. A sensor light will light up your way after dark. The patio is yours to enjoy, as well as meandering through the aspens. We invite you to thoroughly enjoy this property.

What makes this property unique

We do have a large fenced yard for your dog to run and play. Kindly clean up after the dog and be mindful of his/her behavior as well as respectful to the Suite--both inside and out. Please notify us if you are celebrating a special event and we'll make note of it. I am an certified to perform weddings, and provide this service for an additional fee.
