The house is approximately 2000 square feet of living area, 1 1/2 stories with 3 bedrooms Our television provider is YOUTUBE T V Our WIFI provider is BRIGHTSPEED. The Master suite is downstairs with a king size bed, soaker tub and walk in shower. 2 bedrooms upstairs share a full bath. 1 bedroom offers 1 queen size bed and 1 single bed w/trundle. The other bedroom offers a full size bed and 1 twin bed. Each bedroom offers full sized closets and flat screen television. Downstairs is a full sized kitchen with refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher and electric stove and oven. A 6' island has bar stools, there is also a breakfast area and a dining table. The living area is large and open with sofa, love seat and chair. 60" flat screen color television. There is a coffee bar with Keurig Coffee Maker (please bring your favorite K-CUPS) and a Mr. Coffee for ground coffee. A 1/2 bath downstairs is connected to a utility room with washer and dryer. A 40' front porch overlooking the Atchafalaya River has a swing, 4 rockers and a swinging bed. There is an outdoor kitchen with gas cook top and sink with hot and cold running water. There is a gazebo attached to the outdoor kitchen and it has a propane grill and a Charcoal Bar-B-Q Pit. There is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water The Atchafalaya Basin is the largest wetlands and swamp in the United States, and the Atchafalaya River and the Henderson Swamp have some of the best fishing in South Louisiana. Doucet's Grocery in Butte LaRose offers basic needs, Hebert's Grocery in Henderson offers fresh produce and excellent meats. Dine on Bayou Amy at Pat's Riverside Restaurant they have excellent food and live bands on Saturday. Go antiquing in Breaux Bridge and lunch at cafes that line Main Street. Swamp tours are offered at Lake Martin Cypress Island. There are public boat ramps along the River one at Butte LaRose, Lake Henderson and Butte LaRose canal. Our Home is Smoke free, so no smoking in the home, no pets and no parties or large gstherings.

Perfect Family Celebration

My parent's 50th wedding anniversary with their 2 daughters and 3 grandkids was perfect. We felt completely at home during our stay. You can tell it is a property filled with love and it had all the amenitites we needed to enjoy a long weekend. We spent a great deal of time on the porch just laughing and enjoying the view. We will go back!

Beautiful

This is a beautiful home in a picturesque setting. We ended up spending a lot of our time relaxing on the back porch just enjoying the view and bird watching. The interior is great, well decorated and very comfortable to cook, eat snd relax. Our first thought upon entry was the house was even prettier than the pictures

Perfect getaway

This house was the perfect Louisiana getaway. Being able to sit on the porch along the river, watch the birds, relax and catch up with good friends was wonderful. It was also a great location to head out and explore places like Lake Martin, Lake Fausse Point, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, etc

Look No Further!

The Atchafalaya House is an absolute favorite destination of our family's. The house is immaculate, and the entire property brings a sense of peace like no other. We consider this our home away from home. Situated on the banks of the Atchafalaya River, the experience here will have you coming back again and again. Sitting on the wharf to watch the sunrise and swinging on the porch to have a cup of coffee are medicine for the soul. You can bring your own groceries and never have to get out, or you can venture into Breaux Bridge, Lafayette, or Arnaudville for all the fun, shopping, and food you want! Everything is close enough to enjoy but far enough to create a quiet retreat away from the rest of the world. We will definitely be back - again and again - to enjoy this one-of-a-kind jewel of the Atchafalaya.

Very nice stay on the Atchafalaya

We arrived very late on Friday for a weekend with grand parents parents and children. The house was spotless, very comfortable and perfectly stocked for our stay. Communication with Dixie was very efficient. The region is very interesting, I défini recommend this house !!

Wedding Weekend

The Atchafalaya River House is a stunning home and was perfect for those of us traveling from out of town and out of state to attend a local wedding. The outdoor kitchen area was a great place cook a big pot of gumbo and the front porch was the perfect spot for morning coffee with everyone. The house was fully stocked with everything needed to make you feel right at home.

Awesome!

This was a family get together. The house was beautifully kept and had all the necessities. The porch was relaxing and the view beautiful. We caught fish and saw two small gators. I highly recommend this property. We would definitely come back.

Joie de vivre!

It's easy to experience the Cajun "Joie de vivre" in this beautiful home right on the banks of the Atchafalaya River. The setting is beautiful with a landscaped and manicured lawn with plenty of outdoor amenities. Even in the heat of July it was a relaxing experience sitting on the back porch under the ceiling fans to start and finish your day. The interior of the house is tastefully decorated and fully equipped for anything you may need during your stay. And there are plenty of things to do, both indoors and outdoors, in the surrounding Breaux Bridge and Atchafalaya Basin area. All in all, a wonderful stay - highly recommend.

Picture Perfect

We really enjoyed our time in the River House. It was absolutely beautiful inside and outside. Fully stocked with anything we needed. The owners were very kind and checked in with us throughout our stay. With family in the Lafayette area, this will be our first choice for lodging on all future trips. The house was absolutely incredible. The property was very well maintained. Lawn perfectly manicured. It was wonderful watching the wildlife.

We all had a fabulous stay at the AtchafLaya Riverhouse. Enjoyed the large porch, watching all the birds and the beautiful scenery. The house was just perfect for us. The interior and exterior did not disappoint. Had everything we could have possibly needed. Highly recommend!!!

Great place to stay!

Very clean house ! I have allergies and nothing caused me issues. Plenty of room . Plenty of seating inside and out. The outside area is so nice! And although there are other houses next to nearby, it was very quiet.

Peaceful and Beautiful

This is a beautiful and comfortable home. We enjoyed all the inside and outdoor areas including the outdoor kitchen. We spent time watching birds and wildlife in the river and bar pit. The bird feeders kept us entertained. The owner checked with us frequently to be sure we were comfortable. The check in and check out process were a cinch. I enjoyed the books on local history and provided information about the area. Would love to stay again!

BEAUTIFUL +

I was looking forward to getting in before 4:00 pm. Fortunately for us all - I got a call the day before telling me the guests scheduled to be there till11:00 am left early and we could get into the house any time after 12 noon. Our plans had changed because of the time restriction but we were still able to get to the house at 2:15. GREAT! We wanted MORE time to spend on the beautiful porch and lovely outdoor kitchen. God had different plans for us. We had the coldest day of March! We stayed in the house the entire time we were there and enjoyed the fireplace the whole time (none of us have a fireplace at home). This was something new to us all but we all enjoyed the time there even though we had to stay in. We had lots of food (gumbo made with our leftover crawfish boil we had before leaving for Butte LaRose). We played cards and dominoes Sunday night, Monday morning and afternoon, and again on Tuesday morning before we left. ALL IN ALL - GREAT PLACE FOR A GREAT TIME WITH GREAT FRIENDS. THANK YOU DIXIE AND YOUR STAFF! We were there last May and hopefully, God willing, we'll be all together again next year. Never enough time there. Hopefully we can make it back next year. D. We were born and reared in South Louisiana. We have had this property for 30 years. Our three sons are very familiar with the area and grew up fishing, swimming and playing on the River. We have six Grandchildren who love water sports also. We are avid fishermen and boaters, and spend our free time on the River and the Basin fishing, skiing, tubing and boating. We love to bird watch and the Basin and surrounding area afford us a multitude of birds to view. We currently live in the community of Youngsville, LA.
