About this property

Our home is located just outside of Ithaca NY, eight miles from Cornell University. It is a contemporary home built in 2011. It is clean, bright and cheery, filled with natural light. There are three bedrooms, a loft, two full baths, an open living room, dining room and kitchen. It sleeps seven, however, we could put up a cot or supply and extra mattress to accommodate more. Air Conditioning runs throughout the home, making it comfortable year round. There is a desktop computer in the loft as well as Dish Network. Dish Network TV is also in the master bedroom. Our home is on a cozy lot. There is wooded in the back with a running creek. Looking out the front of the house there is a beautiful view of open fields. We also have wonderful neighbors. Enjoy the entire house except for the basement unit which is occupied.
There is a nice restaurant, Rogue's Harbor, as well as a pizza shop, sub shop, post office, hair salon and gift shop within less than a three-mile radius.
The Ithaca airport is 12 min away. Cornell University is 15 min and the Commons area is 17 min. Other places of interest are: King Ferry winery making (17 min.), Seward House (35 min.), Harriet Tubman House (33 min.), Women Suffrage Rights National Historic Park (55 min.) and many waterfalls and gorges (Treman State Park, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Taughannock Falls State Park) are less than 25 min away.

Short Stay for Wedding

We stayed here for a family wedding in Lansing. There was 7 of us and we fit perfectly! The house was great for us, the owners were reachable and communicative. The place was very clean and even better than the photos! Very quiet and would definitely stay here again!

Heerlijk verblijf gehad in heel rustig gelegen huis. Mooi beekje aan achterzijde met firepit. Goede keuken met alle benodigdheden. Keurig ontvangst door eigenaresse, wie zelf weekend wegging. Onder de woning appartement waar je geen last van hebt.

Perfect House, best owner - relax and unwind

It had been a hectic few months for us and this particular house was a perfect get away to unwind, chill and relax. The owners of the house (Lori & Geman) were super responsive, helpful so we really felt at home away from home. The kitchen and pantry were all loaded with utensils, spices, oil, sauces so we didn't had to shop for them. Beautiful stream behind the house is very relaxing. We were in town for a family wedding. House was clean and as pictured.

House was clean, however in need of repairs. Well water from sinks had very bad smell and had corroded the faucets. Alot of small flying insects in house from houseplants. Also there were too many personal items of homeowner in house (many family photos, clothing,etc) which were a bit unsettling and distracting. We were awakened at 2:00 am by a chirping smoke detector, and there were no batteries in the house, so we had to go out and get a battery to stop the noise.

spacious enough

Home was very warm with charm and views. Modern kitchen with open concept which provided a great area for gatherings. All in all, the home had good vibes. A nice big deck out the back of the home and also a nice size deck in the front . Felt a bit uneasy wandering to the fire pit in the back finding out the owners of the property frequent to reside in the lower level of the home . We did meet the owners son and he was very nice and reassured us that we could make ourselves at home .

Very peaceful

This is a beautiful property! There was plenty of room, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was completely outfitted with everything I could possibly need. The kitchen also had a water cooler which was so very impressive for a house with well water. The owners where is Elizabeth I needed some thing. Everything worked out beautifully. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back!

Finger Lakes Getway

The property was very nice and set up as advertised. We especially enjoyed the stream and fire ring behind the house. The location was a bit far from the majority of wineries and lake locations but we knew this when reservation was arranged. Exploring close by Cornell University gardens was an unexpected treat. Lori was very responsive to text message for a minor need.

Girls weekend

The house was as described in the listing. It was well stocked with kitchen appliances and utensils, bath and lake towels. It was clean. The location was perfect. We spent some time in Ithaca and visiting surroundings waterfalls. The host was great. The only reason I only gave 4 stars on accuracy of listing is because the was an apartment on the bottom floor or basement and we weren’t expecting it. Otherwise it was perfect !

Beautiful house

Birthday wine tasting getaway

Family Christmas Get Away

We had way and very cordial communication with the hosts, Lori and German. The house is nestled along a river bank where, weather permitting, you can use the fire-pit or propane grill. There is a nearby small market and gas station for essentials, but it is more fun to go a couple of miles down Triphammer Rd. to the Ithaca Coffee Company, Wine Store, Tops Grocery store, Kinney Drug Store, or Target--if needed. It is a rural setting. close to the Cornell Ornithology Trails, three easy to access waterfalls, and abut 45 minutes from Watkins Glen if you are wanting to go wine-tasting. We would recommend upper end restaurants, "The Heights" in nearby Cayuga Heights, "Antlers" in Lansing, and "Coltivare" in Ithaca. We did not go this time because of the Covid outbreak, but have been to these earlier in the year. The house is well stocked and includes a water cooler, which we appreciated.

Excellent vacation house!

Our experience could not have been better. The house is really nice, rooms are well-appointed and maintained, beds very comfortable, and the front and back porch are great places to spend time. The hosts are very nice and responsive to questions. The location is perfect, just outside of Ithaca. An excellent pub and excellent pizza place are both two minutes away. We plan to be back any time we come back to the Finger Lakes.

Great family gathering

The property was fantastic for our family gathering over the 4th of July. We loved the spacious home. The back deck was so peaceful. The fire pit by the creek was incredible. Perfect place for family gathering

The house and location were perfect for viewing (online) and celebrating our granddaughters graduation from Ithaca College. So appreciated the special touches provided by the property manager: fresh flowers, a delicious apple strudel, coffee, and a congratulatory sign across the upper staircase. Nice bedding and towels. Well equipped kitchen. Very clean. We all loved the back balcony that overlooked a forest, with a creek running below. The property managers were very helpful and accommodating. So glad we chose this house for our special time.

Love this place!

This is our second time staying here and we love it! We had plenty of room and really enjoyed our stay. Deer in the front in the evening and a creek in the back. It is beautiful! Second Time Stay

We rented this property last year during homecoming week and decided to rent it again this past weekend while visiting our son at Cornell. As before, the property didn't disappoint! The house was clean and comfortable, and it had everything we needed for our stay. There's a nice fire pit behind the house (down by a beautiful creek) that we thoroughly enjoyed on Saturday night. The owners are great to deal with and very responsive as well. We will definitely rent here again.

I am an economics professor at a local college and my wife is an elementary school teacher. I have traveled to all continents of the world as part of my job so I enjoy very much meeting people from different part of the world and opening my home to fellow travelers.

Why they chose this property

We designed our home from plans from the internet because we wanted a very open floor plan in a rural area. After looking at many places in the area, we decided to have a new house built for us. We have enjoyed the peace emanating from the surroundings while our four boys grew up here. Although I am originally from South America and my wife is from California, this has been home for us for the past 20 years and we plan to stay here for the foreseable future.

What makes this property unique

You will love the open floor plan and the views from the living room. You will also enjoy the view of the abundant trees in the back and the sound of the creek running in the back of the house will be better than any soundtrack at night (in my humble opinion). You can put some chairs in the front porch or the back covered porch and just enjoy the beauty nature offers in front of your eyes.
