Great place to stay outside of town.
We really enjoyed our stay here with our 2 golden retrievers. There is a lot of rules for staying here but the place was really clean and nice. It was nice to stay outside of town but still not far away from town.
Very quiet and surrounded by beautiful trees. The place was clean inside and outside. Enjoyed our stay.
Quiet Get Away
This house was perfect for us in many ways. We wanted a quiet, relaxing place outside of Santa Fe. Beautiful views, quiet and relaxing, yet not far of a drive to the city, restaurants etc.
The house was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and even had dish soap and dishwasher detergent. The house provided plenty of linens and even soap and shampoo and paper goods - toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, coffee filters. It made it really easy for us since we had flown in. The patio was comfy and gas grill worked great. The bed was very comfortable too.
There were people in the house next door the entire time we were there, but there was never a problem with noise or anything, you would never even have known they were there. The house felt very private.
If we fly to Santa Fe again we will definitely try to stay there. I recommend this house very much. It is perfect for 2 people. The house next door has 2 bedrooms and would be great if you need more space or rent the entire compound for a family reunion.
The price is great for what you get and you can even bring pets!
Sweet little place for peace and quiet
We had a great time chilling here for a week while hiking some of the great places around the Santa Fe area. Clean and well kept, easy to relax here.
There was no chair or couch on property that was even remotely comfortable. The tv is on a wall that you cannot face without straining your neck. The shower floor was very slippery getting out. No bathroom upstairs meant in the middle of the night you have to negotiate the 2 flights of stairs to go to the bathroom. Lighting very poor unable to read without straining your eyes. The area is very remote and at least 1/2 hour from SantaFe on a very treacherous dirt road.
We were very lucky we did not get any rain because we think
the road would have flooded. Would not stay again!
Very sorry to read these comments. This is a 2 LEVEL home with only one set of stairs to the bedroom. I hope other guests considering this home will review all the 5 star reviews the home has received and greatly priced for a super clean, appointed 1 Bedroom home in Santa Fe , 20 minutes to the plaza.
Some like Santa Fe adobe style homes, maybe some do not? Pictures are accurate and reading lamps provided in the home. If guest could not find them, I would have been happy to assist but never heard from them to assist with any questions or concerns. We work our hardest to receive as many 5 stars and have never received a review like this.
Gorgeous rental, stunning location, a few drawbacks...
My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Casa de Vaca 1 with our dogs. The home is simply beautiful—a well-constructed adobe with timber and bricks, surrounded by the rugged foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and expertly decorated with colorful, high-quality furnishings. Kitchen is top-notch, with just about everything that you might need in terms of appliances, dishes, and utensils. Just off the kitchen is a small utility hall featuring a combo washer/dryer that works quite well! The single bedroom is located up a beautiful, open stained-pine staircase and is good-sized with a comfortable bed, dresser, desk, and nightstand.
This pet-friendly rental is priced affordably, but there are some important concerns that need to be mentioned:
1) The driveway is several hundred feet of rocky dirt road. There are significant ruts and a few fairly steep inclines. In snowy or wet weather, I would be nervous to attempt the climb, even in a 4x4.
2) While the single bathroom was charming and beautifully tiled, the shower water pressure was very poor. At best, it was the equivalent of a shower in a small RV... but, when the folks in the adjoining rental (Casa de Vaca 2) were also using water, the shower became a small trickle that constantly shifted from scalding hot to freezing cold. Very uncomfortable.
3) There are a surprising amount of rules, directives, instructions, and strong "suggestions" for this rental. We have stayed in many different homes and properties and, as homeowners ourselves, we certainly understand the desire to protect such a valuable, attractive asset. However. Expectations need to be reasonable—after all, this property is marketed as an affordable vacation destination for people and families with pets. Folks will use the A/C. They may leave the lights on occasionally. They tend to enjoy a good, long shower after a day of hiking. Kids will probably walk around the house in actual shoes. Most dogs I've met will occasionally jump up and sit on a comfortable chair. :)
We are accustomed to receiving 5 star reviews from our happy guests as past testimonials will show so sorry this was not your viewpoint. Getting to and from the home has not been a problem for others including snow. The home is not in the mountains and the common Santa Fe terrain is dirt road. A mini split is offered for cooling and heating which has been enjoyed by all with more than adequate cooling and heating as other testimonials did not make reference to this. Many thanks for the other kind comments and what a great super sale rate you received. Safe travels and many thanks . Francis
