About this property

Private, well appointed, VERY clean using enhanced cleaning practices, comfy!

Spectacular western sunsets add a soothing touch to the end of any day. Access to 11 beaches within 6.2 miles, the closest is only a minutes drive away. Beach glass and agate hunting are popular on Whidbey and we know some secrets. (please ask and bring a pair of boot with you!) There are many State Parks to visit, so be sure to bring your Discovery Pass, or purchase one on the island at Ace Hardware.

We are extremely meticulous about our cleaning and have adopted enhanced cleaning practices in March 2020. We wash all bedding including the mattress cover, pillow case & protective cover, all towels, bath rugs, shower matt and curtain are washed before your arrival. Special care is taken to scrub the bathroom sparkling clean. We take the time to disinfect all touchable surfaces, including switches, plugins, handles, and door knobs & locks, handrails on the stairs. Please NOTE: The stairway up to the bedroom is steep like a boat stairway. In addition to our extensive cleaning, we block a minimum of 30 hours between guests and make certain we have opened windows and "aired" out the place. You are welcome to request an update on current Covid cases for Whidbey, and ask more questions about cleaning if you wish.

Placed in the Cottage are an assortment of maps & brochures of possible adventures and ideas of things to do while visiting Whidbey. We are always happy to do some research on your behalf for activities you like.

Hospitality 101
Ms. Patti should teach all rental owners and managers how to treat a guest. Communication was detailed, kind and welcoming. I wish I could have met her in person and thanked her personally. The tiny, but beautiful, cabin was well equipped, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The additional toiletries, cheese plate and chocolates were a surprisingly nice touch. I’d stay anywhere she rented because I know the experience would be the same.

Excellent Cottage
Beautiful setting and very well appointed. Cozy and stocked with almost anything, plus a lovely "welcome" surprise in the fridge. My only issue was the steep, almost ladder-like steps to the bed upstairs....I'm older, and was worried about this especially at night if bathroom was needed which was downstairs. Very quiet, pleasant decor, charming without being fussy.

Lovely Getaway
We had a great stay here. The property is very cute and was private enough from the main residence. It was immaculately clean and had easy, reasonable house rules. We had a great time and it was easy to get to local wineries and beaches. The park just north up the road was lovely at sunset. We would definitely come back.

About the host

Hosted by Patti Jones

Host profile image
We are Bob & Patti Jones, are retired and enjoy working around our home & property. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a pair of eagles that lay claim to much of the acreage surrounding our property & beyond. We live on site, close enough to provide you with great service, but far enough to give you the privacy you deserve. We love to visit and chat with our guests when they see us out enjoying the property & gardens, however if you seek privacy, we have landscaped to secluded the Cottage and take measures to be outside of your space. We have raised our children here doing horses with our daughter and a motocross track/and racing with our son. Our daughter and family lives close by, and our son and daughter-in-law purchased 2.5 acres from us and live next door with our grand-dog "Chief". We love Whidbey Island and never wish to live anywhere else.

Why they chose this property

In 1993 we sought acreage with nesting eagles, a view, room enough for horses. We have never been disappointed! There are hundreds of eagles and other raptors on the island. We are especially fond of "our eagles" that have called this space home for many years. It is a privileged to be witness to nest building, fierce territoriality protection, experience the mating season, and the hopefulness of successful eaglet rearing. Babies grow close to adult size when they begin their first flights. To see this part of their lives has been a privdledge, and a highlight of our summers.
The view of the water continues to amaze us year after year. We love that no matter where you travel on Whidbey, you can see water from so many places. The beaches are not crowded, even on a sunny weekend. We enjoy taking our dogs to select beaches where we can let them run without bothering anyone. Clam digging and crabbing are very popular as well as beach fishing for salmon.
Often guests love to just hang out, listen to the birds, enjoying the privacy of it all. With the ocean breeze we are not bothered by fly's and mosquitoes. The fire pit is a great place to relax, have a glass of wine, and roast hot dogs & marshmallows.
We formerly owned a plant nursery here on site. This may explain the abundance of landscaped area, with such a diversity in trees, shrubs, and flowers. With all this space, we have not run out of places to plant things, and amazingly enough, we still add something every year. For those who enjoy wandering through the gardens, we are happy you take the time. If your a gardener and have questions about anything, we are excited to speak with you. We enjoy being very private as well as very social, so our guests set the tone of their stay here.
We enjoy wildlife and love that we can see so much here. There is an abundance of song birds, raptors, rabbits, and deer that are ever present.
We hope you will enjoy it

What makes this property unique

There are so many fun shops, so many trails, so many beaches who could get board? In spring the whale migration is amazing. Summers host many festivals, farmers markets, and park concerts. Kayaking can be done just about anywhere with numerous beach accesses and many rentals available. Winters are quiet but mild so one can get out for hikes, beach combing even then. Of course there is a plethora of more idea as well. AND YET, its so convenient to a selection stores close by so you can get just about anything one needs without much effort. Whidbey also has a lot of great food and restaurants to suit everyone's pallet. All these things make vacationing on Whidbey easy.
