Öland is rich in attractions and activities for all ages. Öland's most impressive natural area is Stora Alvaret, a karst landscape that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also experience the haunting ruins of Borgholm Castle and admire the pretty Solliden Castle, the summer residence of the Swedish royal family. Other highlights of the area include the windmills of Lerkaka, the ruins of Gråborg and Lenstad Borg, Öland's animal and amusement park, and the Hörninge mosse nature reserve. Because Öland is so flat, Öland is considered the perfect cycling island. The island is so narrow that you can make it to the sea by bike from anywhere on the island!
