Various facilities are within walking distance, such as the Lauwersoog campsite with bicycle rental, entertainment during the vacation periods and a good restaurant on the Lauwersmeer. Visit the nearby fishing port with information center or relax on the beach of the Lauwersmeer lake. Plan a trip to Pieterburen, a small village and starting point for mudflat walks. It is also home to the famous seal center. The port of Zoutkamp and the town of Dokkum are also very worthwhile excursion destinations. On the way there, you will pass extensive meadows and traditional farms. During your vacation, be sure to visit Schiermonnikoog, a characteristic Wadden island with a varied landscape, beaches, dunes, forests and wetlands.
