1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Tree House Close to the Beach (Sleeps 2-3)
What makes this Cabin unique
Playa Selva Tree House Lodging is a friendly, small, family run business in a very casual environment with two other cabinas/dwellings on the property, and a bodega/garage/workshop. This is not a fancy, five star hotel, but a little something different for the adventurous nature lovers.....a small, charming, unique tree house up in a Banyan Tree. Many fall in love with it, but tree houses are not for everyone... so, if you're not sure, please ask questions so that we might help you determine if it is right for you. Thank you.

Wonderful visit at Playa Selva
We had an amazing visit to Playa Selva. Siggi was very communicative and available for questions during our whole visit. We were also greeted by the owner Kurt who was incredibly friendly and offered to give us a ride to town and helped carry groceries up to the treehouse for us. It gets a little muggy in the warmest parts of the day in the treehouse but that’s to be expected when visiting CR. We saw lots of monkeys around the house and a few other critters too. Beds are comfy, the shower is lovely and everything is just very charming. Caricolas is a great little restaurant in walking distance and the beaches close by are rocky but wonderful. Very private area. We can’t wait to visit again someday!
Not for us
The tree house was well done and the owner was amazing at communicating and assisting with questions regarding the area. Without A/C however it’s not very inhabitable. Our main concern was that we didn’t feel comfortable leaving our belongings in the treehouse when we ventured out as there were no locks or any way to secure that our things wouldn’t be taken. The nightly rate is VERY HIGH compared to the high end places you can rent all around this and the payments are non refundable so we paid for 2 nights, rented elsewhere instead of staying for more than 3 minutes and lost all of our money. Put a bit of a damper on the stay. If this were hostel pricing i could see the stay making sense but for the price it makes no sense.
Hello Stacy, thank you for your feedback. I am really sorry that you didn’t tell me about your concern reg safety. There is a lock for the door and also a big safe in the treehouse! You must have overlooked it. And I am really sorry that the treehouse wasn’t for you -
our guests usually love the house for being unique and different...
Just what I expected!
It was a treehouse and very relaxing, earth centered, grounding, loved it! Single mom who stayed with her 2 kids, ages 11 and 16. You do need to rent a four wheel drive vehicle if you want to get around the area.... even to the grocery store..... Miles of beautiful beach to walk, a short walking distance from the treehouse!
Perfect Spot for a Laid-back Honeymoon
My husband and I spent 5 lovely nights at the Playa Selva treehouse for our honeymoon and loved every minute. The actual tree house itself is beautiful and a super cool engineering feat. We were able to spend the trip without having to rent a vehicle and simply walked to nearby stores and restaurants for meals. The beach bath is very convenient and easy to access, and while parts of the actual beach are rocky, it's usually pretty private and great for beachcombing. The small pool area on the property provides a great break from the heat and reliable wifi access if you ever need to check messages or get online. We hope to return to celebrate our anniversaries in the years to come.
Came here on a whim! Saw the special listing on an email from VRBO advertising amazing tree houses around the world, and decided to book for a girls weekend (mom and her two daughters). Wow how perfect! A very special, tranquil place, that reminds us that you don’t need much to live in luxury! What a treat!
