About this property

Beautiful 1 or 2 Bedroom Suite in Victorian Home - close to the water

We offer a beautifully furnished 1 or 2 bedroom suite in a lovely heritage home for those wanting a self catered place of their own while visiting Victoria. The whole main floor of the home is available. We have recently renovated and everyone that sees it just loves it; it is a great space. The second bedroom is separate from the main living area, and is not connected to the self contained suite (living room, first bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/dining area) - so might be better for older children, another couple, relative, friend, etc. The whole main floor is private and secure, but the second bedroom is accessed through the common lobby. There is a layout of the main floor under photos.

The lobby area is lovely, and there is a spacious bright living room with beautiful original stained glass windows, gas fireplace and hard wood floors. The large sunny kitchen is equipped with all appliances, dishes and cooking necessities. We recently installed a new stove and microwave; it makes a great cooking area. There are two good sized bedrooms and a large bathroom.

There is a lovely outdoor space with a stone patio and a pretty garden in the back. It is a great space for kids to run around and play, and the stone patio is a nice sunny spot with a small table and chairs. There are oak trees in the back and rock gardens full of perennials, lilac trees and annuals.

Please contact us if you are looking for a place of your own that is relaxing, beautifully decorated and close to the heart of Victoria, BC. We are a block from the harbour, and a 20 minute walk to downtown Victoria along the beautiful Songhees Walkway.

Ian and I live on the second floor in another suite; both spaces are private and locked. Because of the solid construction of the home there is minimal noise transfer, which is nice.

For those wanting a longer stay, this 1000 sq ft suite would suit a professional person or couple, who appreciate quality furnishings in a great location conveniently close to shops and other amenities. Unrestricted on-street parking is available at the front of the house. All utilities are included.
Amenities include: New front-load washer and dryer, linens, towels, cooking utensils, TV, DVD player, free wifi, stereo, stove, fridge, dishwasher, iron and ironing board, bbq, etc. All rooms are fully equipped and ready for moving in.
Please contact us for more information or for questions on short term and longer term rentals.

Our perfect stay in Victoria
As a base for my husband, son and I to explore Victoria, we couldnt have chosen a better place than Nancy and Ian's apartment. The ground floor of a beautiful house, built around 1880, it was really comfortable and very well equipped for self-catering. A great walkway along the water's edge into Victoria town (approx 25 minutes). For tired legs or exploring further afield, there's a reliable bus service close by. Currently 5 CAD for a Day Pass. We made our way to Butchart Gardens by bus. It is spectacular and makes a great day out. Nancy and Ian are great hosts, very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay again! Jan, Andy & Dan

Great stay, helpful and hospitable hosts
A spacious, clean and well equipped property, met all expectations. Good communication with friendly and helpful hosts. Ideal location, just a 20 min walk to downtown Victoria, slightly longer but more picturesque via the coastal path. Highly recommended for a Victoria visit

Classic Home
The property was amazing! Like a blast from the past but with modern amenities. Our hosts gave a great tour of the property and left us delicious bagels for Friday morning breakfast. Will definitely stay again

Comfortable, clean, bright and cheery...
This was the perfect home away from home to return to for relaxing. It's located in a quiet neighborhood with a short 5-7 minute drive to downtown Victoria. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had all utensils one could possibly need and everything was clean and fresh. Nancy and Ian are fantastic hosts, giving tips on the area and available for any needs but also respecting your privacy. Absolutely would stay again.

Ian and I love living in Victoria. Ian is originally from England and moved here with his family when he was young. I have lived in Victoria for the last 12 years, and lived here as a young girl. I travelled to the US to work on schooners and yachts throughout the Caribbean and along the Eastern Seaboard of the States - I loved it. I came back home to be close to my family; and I am so happy I did.

Ian and I travelled to Provence and the Cote d’Azur in Southern France in the summer of 2013. We had a beautiful adventure touring around Nice and the villages of the Luberon; it is a stunning and mesmerizing part of the world. We stayed in beautiful small hotels and B & B’s; and it was then when we realized we could do the same here. We have created Sweet Oaks to provide visitors to Vancouver Island with a beautiful and comfortable place to stay. We love living here and would love to share it with those travelling to Vancouver Island.

Why they chose this property

Victoria West was the up and coming neighbourhood in the 1990's, and it is becoming the place for beautiful new developments such as the Railyards and Dockside Green.

Our home sits on a large double lot, and was the first house built on the street in 1887. The property is well situated with its pretty gardens, proximity to Victoria, and its closeness to the water.

What makes this property unique

We love living here, and feel so lucky to live so close to the water. We appreciate the
the period details and character of the home, especially the beautiful and original stained glass window that highlights the living room.
There are six oak trees in the backyard, and a lovely garden area in the back with rock beds full of a variety of perennials, annuals and lilac trees. We have designed a pretty brick patio and bench with old firebrick we collected from the Hudson’s Bay Company. The bricks are all original and date back to the the early 1900′s. There is a BBQ on the patio, and a comfortable seating area for relaxing in the nice weather.
The front yard has raised beds where we plant flowers and vegetables. There is lots of room to roam around, and it is a great yard for kids to play in.
